Trump Says He Will Designate Antifa as Foreign Terrorist Organization
President Donald J. Trump announced Friday that he intends to designate Antifa as a foreign terrorist organization, marking a dramatic escalation in his administration’s ongoing battle against what he called an international network of far-left extremists responsible for domestic unrest, political violence, and attacks on conservatives.
The President made the declaration during a White House roundtable with independent journalists — including Jack Posobiec and Nick Sortor, both of whom have covered Antifa extensively — as the nation continues to grapple with rising political violence following the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk.
When asked whether he would move to classify Antifa as a foreign terrorist entity — expanding beyond its current domestic extremist designation — Trump responded decisively.
“Well, has that been done? Pretty close, right? Would you like to see it done?”
Posobiec immediately replied, “Yes, Mr. President.” Turning to Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Trump said, “We’ll take care of it.”
White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller confirmed the administration’s intent.
“Yes, it’s true. There are extensive foreign ties, and I think that would be a very valid step to take.”

A New Legal Frontier
According to administration officials, the move would target Antifa’s financial and operational links to groups in Western Europe and the Middle East — networks that U.S. intelligence agencies have reportedly tracked for months.
If enacted, this would be the first time the U.S. designates a domestic-based organization as a foreign terrorist entity, granting the government new powers to impose international sanctions, asset freezes, and cross-border investigations.
Critics argue the move could blur the line between domestic dissent and terrorism, but White House officials insist Antifa’s coordination with foreign anarchist organizations removes any such ambiguity.
“Start Prosecutions”
During the meeting, Trump invited Posobiec and Sortor to share firsthand reports from Antifa demonstrations. Sortor — recently arrested in Portland while covering an anti-ICE protest — presented Trump with a U.S. flag he said he rescued from demonstrators attempting to burn it.
“Give that to Attorney General [Pam] Bondi,” Trump said. “Start prosecutions.”
Posobiec detailed what he described as a pattern of escalating left-wing violence, naming several politically motivated attackers.
“When you look at people like Luigi Mangione in his twenties, Thomas Matthew Crooks, of course, who took a shot at you, sir, the ICE shooter in Dallas, and now this Tyler Robinson — we’re starting to see a pattern of more and more murderous violence.”
Trump called the wave of violence “disgusting” and “a threat to the country.”
Courage in the Face of Violence
Posobiec, who has been working closely with Turning Point USA and the Kirk family, told Trump that the organization is pressing forward with its campus tour in Kirk’s memory.
“Turning Point USA is continuing the tour that Charlie was on. We had 6,000 people when we went back to Utah. We had 5,000 people last night in Montana. We are continuing to organize on campus.”
He warned, however, that the threat remains serious:
“Mr. President, we need to do something about this. Because I fear that the next one who could be killed could be sitting at this table right now. We’re not going to stop, but they need to be stopped — and they will not stop until they are stopped.”
Trump assured those present that federal action is coming.
“We’re not going to let this happen again,” he said. “Antifa will be dealt with.”
“They’ve Declared War on America”
The President framed the issue as one of national defense and internal sovereignty, signaling that his administration is prepared to use every available tool to dismantle what he described as a coordinated anti-American movement.
“They’ve declared war on America,” Trump said. “Now we’re declaring it back.”
