Trump Signals U.S. Could Step Into Israel-Iran Conflict, Pushes for Peace With Putin’s Help

President Donald J. Trump confirmed Sunday that while the United States is not currently involved in the escalating military conflict between Israel and Iran, American involvement remains on the table.

“We’re not involved in it. It’s possible we could get involved. But we are not at this moment involved,” Trump told Rachel Scott during an ABC News interview.

In a move reflective of his peace-through-strength foreign policy, President Trump revealed he had a lengthy call Saturday with Russian President Vladimir Putin. The two leaders discussed potential diplomatic strategies for de-escalating the growing crisis in the Middle East.

“I would be open to it. [Putin] is ready. He called me about it. We had a long talk about it. We talked about this more than his situation. This is something I believe is going to get resolved,” Trump said.

The remarks come in the wake of an Axios report stating that Israel has formally requested assistance from the Trump administration to neutralize Iran’s nuclear infrastructure. Israeli defense capabilities reportedly fall short of penetrating Iran’s deeply buried Fordow nuclear site, while the U.S. possesses both the munitions and aircraft needed to complete such an operation—assets that are already within range.

Trump, never one to sit idle in the face of global instability, took to Truth Social to underscore his belief that a diplomatic breakthrough is possible.

“Iran and Israel should make a deal, and will make a deal, just like I got India and Pakistan to make, in that case by using TRADE with the United States to bring reason, cohesion, and sanity into the talks,” Trump posted.

He reminded followers of his past successes in brokering peace across long-standing global flashpoints, accomplishments the mainstream media routinely ignores.

“During my first term, Serbia and Kosovo were going at it hot and heavy… I stopped it (Biden has hurt the longer term prospects with some very stupid decisions, but I will fix it, again!). Another case is Egypt and Ethiopia, and their fight over a massive dam… There is peace, at least for now, because of my intervention… Likewise, we will have PEACE, soon, between Israel and Iran!” he wrote.

The President added:

“Many calls and meetings now taking place. I do a lot, and never get credit for anything, but that’s OK, the PEOPLE understand. MAKE THE MIDDLE EAST GREAT AGAIN!”

Meanwhile, on Fox News, retired Army Gen. Jack Keane analyzed the shifting military dynamics between Israel and Iran following Tehran’s retaliation for Israeli airstrikes. Speaking to Martha MacCallum on The Story, Keane explained that Iran launched approximately 100 ballistic missiles during its initial response—only a handful broke through Israeli defenses.

“Israel expected the targets to shift from October, which were Air Force bases in the desert and the Mossad headquarters to population centers. And we’re seeing the evidence of that here,” Keane explained.

The general added that a second wave of about 50 missiles failed to penetrate Israel’s defense system entirely—an indication of both Iran’s logistical challenges and Israel’s growing tactical advantage.

“The fact that the second wave of Iranian retaliation was less than the first is a good sign… Obviously, Israel is also conducting attacks inside Iran as we speak,” Keane said.

As missile barrages continue from both sides, pressure is mounting on the global stage. With Trump hinting at U.S. military readiness and diplomatic intervention, the former—and now current—Commander-in-Chief once again finds himself at the center of a potential global crisis.
