Trump Vows To ‘Save’ NYC, Calls Zohran Mamdani A ‘Communist Lunatic’

President Donald J. Trump issued a stark warning Wednesday following the Democratic primary victory of radical leftist Zohran Mamdani in the New York City mayoral race — signaling that he may use federal authority to prevent the city from spiraling further into chaos.

“As President of the United States, I’m not going to let this Communist Lunatic destroy New York. Rest assured, I hold all the levers, and have all the cards. I’ll save New York City, and make it ‘Hot’ and ‘Great’ again, just like I did with the Good Ol’ USA!” Trump declared on X.

President Trump’s comments came as Mamdani — a self-identified Democratic Socialist and member of the far-left DSA — secured a surprise win in the city’s Democratic mayoral primary. The result has alarmed not only Republicans but also moderates and working-class New Yorkers who fear Mamdani’s radical proposals could devastate the city’s fragile economy and accelerate its ongoing public safety crisis.

Trump also raised the possibility of federal intervention, including investigating Mamdani’s legal status and enforcing immigration laws, particularly if Mamdani attempts to obstruct ICE operations.

The 33-year-old assemblyman from Queens has built a campaign on openly racialized and redistributionist policies, including a controversial tax scheme that would penalize New Yorkers living in what his campaign describes as “richer and whiter neighborhoods.”

A document from Mamdani’s campaign titled “Stop the Squeeze on NYC Homeowners” calls for shifting the city’s property tax burden away from low-income neighborhoods and onto wealthier areas — specifically targeting White and affluent communities in Manhattan and Brooklyn.

“The property tax system is unbalanced because assessment levels are artificially capped, so homeowners in expensive neighborhoods pay less than their fair share,” the proposal reads.

Critics argue that Mamdani’s rhetoric and proposals amount to nothing short of class warfare, laced with racial overtones. His policies would hike taxes on families who’ve invested in high-cost neighborhoods while redistributing that money to other parts of the city, all under the guise of “equity.”

The document also proposes a $10 million “Tangled Title Fund” to help residents in predominantly Black communities resolve property deed issues — another racially framed policy that critics say amounts to race-based legal favoritism.

In a shocking admission of his ideology, Mamdani’s campaign materials include language about how to “end white supremacy and racial oppression because its destruction is in the interest of all workers, including white workers.”

The assemblyman’s housing platform paints New York City as a bastion of racial and economic injustice, proposing the abolition of the current tax lien auction system — a mechanism that allows the city to collect delinquent property taxes through private trusts — and replacing it with a city-run system that offers expanded leniency for missed payments.

In addition to tax and housing reforms, Mamdani wants to freeze rents for all of the city’s 2.4 million rent-stabilized tenants, impose multi-year rent controls, and pour billions into government-run housing projects.

Housing experts warn that such drastic socialist measures could paralyze the rental market, discourage private investment, and worsen New York’s already dire housing shortage.

With Mamdani now the presumptive Democratic nominee, President Trump’s vow to defend the city from leftist overreach has taken on renewed urgency. His remarks may be a harbinger of broader federal involvement should the city continue veering toward radicalism.
