Trump Yanks Kamala Harris' Secret Service Protection as Undisclosed Biden Order Comes to Light

Kamala Harris’ upcoming book tour just got a lot more complicated—and a lot more expensive—for the former vice president.

According to a CNN report, President Donald J. Trump revoked a Biden-era order that gave Harris Secret Service protection well beyond what the law provides.

The move comes as Harris prepares to step back into the spotlight with the release of her memoir this fall.

In a memo sent Thursday to Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, Trump ordered the Secret Service to scale back Harris’ protection to what is legally required.

“You are hereby authorized to discontinue any security-related procedures previously authorized by Executive Memorandum, beyond those required by law, for the following individual, effective September 1, 2025: Former Vice President Kamala D. Harris,” the memo stated, according to CNN.

Federal law guarantees former presidents Secret Service protection for life. Vice presidents, however, receive only six months of coverage once they leave office. For Harris, that protection should have ended on July 21.

Yet, in the final days of his administration, former President Joe Biden quietly issued an order keeping Harris’ security detail in place. CNN reported the order had never been publicly disclosed until now.

A Biden spokesman refused to comment on the unusual move or explain why Harris was granted taxpayer-funded security far beyond what the law allows.

Not surprisingly, the decision drew outrage from the left, with liberal commentators blasting Trump online. Harris’ critics, however, argue the decision was a long time coming, noting that taxpayers should not be subsidizing the personal appearances of a failed vice president.

The timing is no coincidence. Harris’ new memoir, “107 Days,” is set for release on Sept. 23. She has already scheduled a two-month, 15-city promotional tour across the United States, the United Kingdom, and Canada, according to USA Today.

Now, Harris will have to make her own arrangements for security. Whatever the costs of protecting her during the international book tour, American taxpayers won’t be stuck footing the bill.
