Watch: Dr. Phil Fully Dismantles 'Dangerous' and 'Stupid' Ilhan Omar for Her Stance on America
Dr. Phil McGraw didn’t hold back this week, calling out one of the left’s most controversial figures for her repeated attacks on the country that gave her refuge, freedom, and a seat in Congress.
Appearing on The Real Story Tuesday, Dr. Phil slammed Democratic Rep. Ilhan Omar of Minnesota for her blatant anti-American rhetoric, describing her as “dangerous” and “stupid” — two words that, sadly, no longer surprise many Americans when it comes to the far-left firebrand.
“She is blatantly un-American,” Dr. Phil said, cutting straight to the truth at the start of the segment. And given Omar’s long record of inflammatory and divisive remarks, it’s hard to argue otherwise.

View PlansThe segment highlighted a recent episode of the left-wing podcast Democracy Now!, where Omar once again unleashed her disdain for the United States — this time claiming that President Donald J. Trump’s decisive use of the military to quell violent leftist riots in Los Angeles had somehow turned America into one of the “worst countries.”
“To have a democracy, a beacon of hope, for the world to now be turned into one of the worst countries, where the military are in our streets, without any regard for people’s Constitutional rights, while our president is spending millions of dollars propping himself up, like a failed dictator with a military parade,” Omar said.
Apparently, defending American cities from chaos and lawlessness now makes a president “a failed dictator” in Omar’s world.
Just hours after that interview resurfaced, Omar doubled down on her tone-deaf messaging — this time on X (formerly Twitter) — by celebrating Somalia’s Independence Day with a glowing tribute. As a sitting member of the U.S. Congress, her priorities seemed wildly misplaced.
The backlash came swiftly — and for good reason. Omar represents the American people, not Somalia. Yet her loyalty appears consistently directed toward grievance politics and virtue signaling, rather than gratitude for the nation that rescued her from a war-torn failed state.
And this wasn’t a first offense.
Back on July 4, 2018, Omar used America’s Independence Day as a moment not to celebrate freedom, but to push progressive revisionism.
“We shouldn’t revise history,” she wrote. “We’re a country built on stolen land and the backs of slaves. Independence Day allows us to reflect on how far we’ve come and how much further we have to go.”
That’s not what July 4th is about. Independence Day is a time to honor our Founding Fathers’ stand against tyranny, the birth of our Constitution, and the recognition of God-given rights — not an occasion to smear our heritage.
Dr. Phil rightly pointed out the contradiction of Omar’s narrative. Having fled Somalia and received refuge in the United States, she now uses her platform not to express gratitude, but to bash the very country that gave her opportunity and safety.
“She has every reason to be thankful,” Dr. Phil said. “Instead, she spews vitriol.”
He added, “When you stand on the world stage and act like this country is no better than the Taliban or Somalia, you have lost your way.”
It was a bold but necessary rebuke — especially as a new Gallup poll shows only 36% of Democrats now say they’re proud to be American. That kind of stat reveals that Omar’s radical worldview isn’t fringe anymore — it’s gone mainstream within the Democratic Party.

View PlansDr. Phil’s words were a wake-up call. Ilhan Omar isn’t some outlier. She’s emblematic of a broader movement on the Left that detests this nation’s founding, despises traditional values, and would rather tear down the republic than defend it.
And in calling her “dangerous” and “stupid,” Dr. Phil said what millions of Americans have been thinking all along.
