Watch: Mother of Jocelyn Nungaray Condemns 'Cowardly' Democrats for Their Behavior During Trump’s Speech

Among the numerous reactions to President Donald Trump’s address on Tuesday, one interview stood out the most.

It came from Alexis Nungaray, a woman who has personally endured the devastating consequences of the open-border policies championed by former President Joe Biden and his party.

As the mother of 12-year-old Jocelyn Nungaray, who was tragically murdered in 2024 by illegal immigrants from Venezuela, Alexis Nungaray didn’t hold back in her criticism of the Democratic Party. Her words carried a message that resonated with many Americans.

“I found it very cowardly that a lot of the Democrats didn’t stand, didn’t clap. They didn’t do anything to support anything that Donald Trump is trying to do as president to make this country better,” Nungaray told Fox News’ Sean Hannity.

“It was very shameful for the Democratic [Party].”

During his speech, Trump paid tribute to Jocelyn Nungaray by unveiling an executive order renaming a wildlife refuge in Galveston Bay, Texas, in her honor.

As seen in the video below, many Democrats chose not to applaud this decision.

Nungaray, who was seen mouthing the words “thank you” to Trump, had every reason to be outraged at those opposing him.

However, during her conversation with Hannity, she maintained a composed tone while expressing her disappointment in Democrats, who she suggested lacked the moral compass that Americans should expect from their leaders.

“They don’t stand for anything humane,” she said. “They don’t stand for us as citizens, they don’t stand for our security. They don’t stand for honorable things that we need in this country.

“It’s just very disgraceful to us as U.S. citizens that those are the people that we have here in Congress — the House and Senate. It’s disgusting.”

It’s hard to disagree with that assessment.

This is the same political party that, for four years, enabled the Biden administration as it misled the American public by portraying a clearly compromised Joe Biden as a capable leader.

It’s the party that has consistently placed the interests of millions of illegal immigrants above those of American citizens.

It’s also the party that has disregarded the pain of mothers like Alexis Nungaray and Alysson Phillips, whose daughter, nursing student Laken Riley, was brutally murdered.

For the progressive left, the suffering of these women is inconvenient. Their children are seen as mere casualties in the broader effort to reshape America—collateral damage in a political struggle to redefine the nation that Abraham Lincoln once called the “last, best hope of earth.”

This is the current reality of American politics and the Democratic Party.

And it’s a reality that Alexis Nungaray understands all too well.

It’s a message all Americans—Democrats included—should take to heart.
