Watch: Trump Ag. Secretary Brooke Rollins Can Only Laugh When Jake Tapper Shows He's in Utter Denial

Members of the mainstream media seem to lie so effortlessly, it raises the question: do they actually believe the narratives they push?

Amazingly, it looks like at least one such “journalist” might genuinely buy into the falsehoods. But who’s to say for certain?

During Sunday’s episode of CNN’s State of the Union with Jake Tapper and Dana Bash, Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins delivered a moment that resonated with countless Americans. While responding to Jake Tapper’s claim that he was not aligned “on the left,” Rollins couldn't help but laugh.

“You’ve got two days of data,” Rollins pointed out in a clip shared on X, referencing the initial market reactions to President Donald Trump’s “Liberation Day” tariffs, which were rolled out on Wednesday.

“Everyone, especially on your side, on the left, is freaking out,” she added.

Tapper quickly pushed back: “I’m not on the left.”

Naturally, conservatives don’t usually make CNN part of their regular viewing—unless someone like Scott Jennings is featured. But for those who caught this particular exchange, it was a true spit-take moment.

There was a slight pause after Tapper’s denial—either Rollins needed a second to register what she heard, or she simply wasn’t sure how to respond. When she did, it was pitch-perfect.

“Ha,” she chuckled, flashing a grin filled with dry sarcasm. “Alright, Jake. Thank you.”

She moved on, unfazed. Tapper’s expression, notably, didn’t shift at all.

As expected, the moment lit up X.

One user uploaded a video compiling three minutes and 14 seconds of Tapper “being a leftwing partisan hack.”

Another shared a shorter montage labeling Tapper as “one of the biggest spreaders of the Fine People Hoax.”

Someone else summed it up with biting sarcasm, calling Tapper’s comment “comedy gold” and branding him a mere “narrative tool.”

“No one’s buying it, Jake. You’re not fooling the public—you’re just fooling yourself,” the user concluded.

At the end of the day, we’re left with two possibilities: either Tapper truly believes the stories he spins, or he’s mastered the art of delivering them with a straight face. It’s hard to say which is more disturbing.
