The president had just exited the stadium following Washington’s 44–22 loss to the Detroit Lions when a group of fans began chanting “USA.” Trump paused, spotting a young boy wearing a Commanders hat and a Jayden Daniels jersey, and motioned for him to step forward.
“Thank you, Mr. President, I’m honored,” the boy said.
“Do you know how much that’s worth?” Trump responded, offering the handshake and the challenge coin as the boy thanked him again.
“Have a good time, everyone,” Trump added before continuing on his way.
The moment made waves online, where commentator Mario Nawfal described the interaction as yet another example of Trump’s instinctive connection with everyday Americans, noting that Trump has a soft spot for “the little guys.” Nawfal wrote that the president turned “a simple goodbye into a lifelong memory,” adding that Trump “chatted with the kid, slipped him the coin, and made his day surrounded by cheers and security hustle. Capping off a Veterans Day weekend full of flyovers, anthems, and booth banter.”
Trump’s appearance marked the first time a sitting president has attended an NFL regular-season game since Jimmy Carter did so in 1978, according to NBC. During the matchup, the president also stopped by the Fox Sports broadcast booth, where he was asked why sporting events hold such appeal for him.
“You have the triumph and you have the problems, and you have to get through the problems to hit the triumphs,” Trump said.
Ein Präsident wie aus einem Hollywoodfilm! ✈️🏈

The game also featured a dramatic Air Force One flyover, as noted by the Associated Press — a fitting tribute during Veterans Day weekend.
Detroit quarterback Jared Goff later commented that it was “awesome” to have the president at the stadium.
