Watch: Trump's First Cabinet Meeting Opens with a Powerful Prayer 'In Jesus' Name'

Housing and Urban Development Secretary Scott Turner kicked off President Donald Trump’s first Cabinet meeting of his second term on Wednesday at the White House by leading the room in an uplifting Christian prayer.

Seated around the table were Trump’s appointed Cabinet members, with 18 of them already confirmed by the Senate.

At Trump’s request, Turner stood beside the president in the West Wing’s Cabinet Room and opened the meeting with prayer.

“Father, we thank you for this awesome privilege, Father, to be in your presence,” Turner began. “God, thank you that you’ve allowed us to see this day. The Bible says that ‘your mercies are new every morning,’ and Father God, we give you the glory and the honor.”

Turner went on to express gratitude to God for placing them in their respective roles and for “anointing us to do this job.”

He specifically asked for divine wisdom for both Trump and Vice President J.D. Vance as they take on the responsibility of guiding the nation.

“I pray for all of my colleagues that are here around the table and in this room. Lord God, we pray that we would lead with a righteous clarity,” Turner said.

He highlighted, “The Bible says, ‘Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD.’”

“Thank you for giving us this opportunity to restore faith in this country and be a blessing to the people of America,” he added in prayer.

Wrapping up, Turner prayed, “Lord God, today in our meeting, we pray that you would be glorified in our conversation, in Jesus’ name, amen.”

Afterward, Trump acknowledged Turner’s prayer, saying, “That’s a very good job that you did.”

Several other key figures in the administration who do not require Senate confirmation were also present, including White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles, National Security Advisor Michael Waltz, and Elon Musk, head of the Department of Government Efficiency.

Congresswoman Elise Stefanik of New York, Trump’s pick for U.N. ambassador who is still awaiting Senate approval, also attended the meeting. The U.N. ambassador has held cabinet-level rank since President George W. Bush’s presidency, according to NPR.

Stefanik has opted to hold off on leaving her House seat while Republicans aim to strengthen their slim majority in upcoming special elections, as The New York Times noted. Currently, the GOP holds only a narrow lead over the Democrats.

Musk, who also serves as CEO of SpaceX and Tesla, took a moment to praise the exceptional talent in the room.

“This is an incredible group of people, and I do not give false praise,” Musk said. “I don’t think that such a talented team has actually ever been assembled. I think it’s literally the best Cabinet that the country has ever had.”

Musk also described the Department of Government Efficiency’s ongoing efforts to eliminate waste and expose corruption across the federal agencies led by those present.

“We think there are a number of people on the government payroll who are dead,” Musk stated.

He clarified that the email sent to all federal employees wasn’t meant as a performance review but instead as a “pulse check review.”

One unique aspect of Trump’s Cabinet is that two former Democratic presidential contenders who once opposed him are now part of his team: Robert Kennedy, now serving as Health and Human Services Secretary, and Tulsi Gabbard, who holds the role of Director of National Intelligence.

Looking around the table, it’s clear Trump has brought together a truly remarkable team—perhaps some of the finest talent the nation has seen.

With God’s help, America’s brightest days may still lie ahead.
