Watch: Whoopi Desperately Throws to a Commercial Right After Cheryl Hines Levels Her and Nails Obama at Same Time

“The View” co-host Whoopi Goldberg once again revealed the limits of her political insight this week — this time by attacking Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. over his qualifications, only to be fact-checked in real time by Kennedy’s wife, actress Cheryl Hines.

During Tuesday’s broadcast, the panel of liberal hosts mocked Secretary Kennedy’s skepticism of Big Pharma and the federal vaccine establishment — a position that has earned him both grassroots admiration and relentless scorn from the left. Goldberg confidently suggested Kennedy was unqualified to lead HHS because he wasn’t a medical doctor.

“I do wanna say, you know, he’s not a doctor? And he’s not a [medical] professional,” Goldberg said. “And oftentimes when he’s speaking, he is speaking not with the best information that we can get.”

Hines, calm and composed, quickly dismantled Goldberg’s talking point with a single fact.
“Just to be clear, 90 percent of secretaries of HHS have not been doctors. … There have been three. One of Obama’s secretaries of HHS was an economist,” she replied.

The truth bomb left Goldberg visibly flustered. Moments later, she awkwardly cut to a commercial break — a move viewers recognized as a tactical retreat after being publicly corrected on air.

For context, former President Barack Obama’s HHS Secretary Sylvia Burwell was not a physician; she was an economist and former budget official. Likewise, President Joe Biden’s HHS Secretary Xavier Becerra is a career attorney with zero background in medicine or science. Yet those glaring gaps never seemed to bother Goldberg or her colleagues at “The View.”

Goldberg’s selective outrage is nothing new. In 2020, she famously gushed that Jill Biden — who holds an Ed.D. (Doctor of Education), not a medical degree — should be named Surgeon General if Joe Biden won the presidency.

“I’m hoping Dr. Jill becomes the Surgeon General,” Goldberg said on the show at the time. “Joe Biden’s wife. She would never do it, but yeah, she’s a hell of a doctor! She’s an amazing doctor.”

The comment drew widespread ridicule and showcased Goldberg’s chronic confusion between academic and medical credentials.

By contrast, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. graduated from Harvard, studied at the London School of Economics, and earned his law degree from the University of Virginia — a résumé that dwarfs that of many career bureaucrats currently occupying federal offices.

And the irony isn’t lost on observers: Whoopi Goldberg, who dropped out of high school, has made a habit of lecturing others about expertise and qualifications — all while struggling to distinguish facts from partisan spin.

Perhaps it’s time Goldberg stuck to what she does best: performing comedy sketches instead of trying to play political analyst on daytime television.
