Watters Breaks Down ‘Secret Note’ Left by Kirk’s Alleged Assassin

Fox News host Jesse Watters on Tuesday spotlighted new evidence confirming what many conservatives already believed: the assassination of Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk was a politically motivated, premeditated act carried out by a radicalized leftist.

Prosecutors revealed that accused gunman Tyler Robinson, 22, left a handwritten confession for his live-in partner, Lance Twiggs, stating his intent to kill Kirk.

“I had the opportunity to take out Charlie Kirk and I’m going to take it,” the note read, according to Utah County Attorney Jeff Gray.

Watters told viewers on Jesse Watters Primetime that the so-called “secret note” was initially meant to be destroyed, but investigators recovered photographic evidence of it. Combined with DNA, digital forensics, and Robinson’s own text messages, prosecutors say the evidence paints an unmistakable picture of motive and obsession.

Gray underscored the magnitude of the crime:

“The murder of Charlie Kirk is an American tragedy,” he said while announcing formal murder charges.

FBI Director Kash Patel confirmed to Fox News that the note was written before Robinson carried out the Sept. 10 shooting at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah.

“We have since learned that the note, even though it has been destroyed, we have found forensic evidence of the note, and we have confirmed what that note says,” Patel explained.

Premeditation and Obsession

Authorities say Robinson planned the attack for more than a week. On the day of the shooting, he scaled a stairwell to a rooftop overlooking the campus green, waited for Kirk to begin speaking, and then fired a bolt-action rifle into the conservative leader’s neck. Kirk died minutes later despite urgent aid from security and paramedics.

Forensic analysis has further tied Robinson to the weapon. Gray said Robinson’s DNA was found on the rifle’s trigger, while Patel confirmed his DNA was also identified on a towel wrapped around the gun and a screwdriver used on the weapon.

The FBI described Robinson as having a “rabid obsession” with Kirk. Deputy Director Dan Bongino told Fox that Robinson repeatedly expressed his hatred of Kirk’s politics and bragged to acquaintances about creating “the perfect murder plan.”

Watters argued the “secret note” offered a direct window into Robinson’s mindset and revealed the depth of his political hatred.

Digital Evidence and Confessions

Prosecutors also introduced damning digital evidence. On Sept. 11, just a day after the shooting, Robinson reportedly confessed to his role in a Discord chat with more than 20 members.

“Hey guys, I have bad news for you all. It was me at UVU yesterday. I’m sorry for all of this,” Robinson wrote, according to screenshots obtained by the Washington Post.

He then claimed he would surrender through a sheriff friend, but it was ultimately Robinson’s father who turned him in.

Facing the Death Penalty

Robinson has since been charged with first-degree murder and multiple firearms offenses. Utah prosecutors confirmed they intend to seek the death penalty — an option that, under state law, can still be carried out by firing squad.

Attorney General Pam Bondi and Governor Spencer Cox have both expressed support for capital punishment in the case, signaling the state’s determination to pursue maximum justice.
