‘Where’s Joe?’ Biden’s Christmas Photo Sparks Confusion, Mockery Online
Former President Joe Biden became the subject of widespread online ridicule this week after posting a Christmas Eve family photo in which he appeared nearly hidden behind other relatives, prompting social media users to ask a blunt and recurring question: “Where’s Joe?”
The 83-year-old Democrat shared the image late Tuesday on X, writing, “Wishing you a peaceful and joyful Christmas Eve filled with love.” The photo showed Biden standing with seven family members in front of a Christmas tree — yet his face was barely visible, obscured behind former First Lady Jill Biden and partially blocked by other relatives in the frame.

Positioned front and center were Hunter Biden and his daughter Maisy, prominently placed at the middle of the photo. Biden’s daughter Ashley, Hunter’s wife Melissa Cohen, and two additional grandchildren rounded out the group. Biden himself appeared relegated to the background, nearly blending into the scene.
The awkward composition quickly went viral, sparking mockery, speculation, and commentary across social media.
“Took me a while to find ya, champ,” one user joked, sharing a zoomed-in image highlighting Biden’s partially obscured face. Another asked simply, “Where’s Joe?” Others suggested the placement was an unintended reflection of Biden’s diminished public role since leaving office.
Fox News columnist Charlie Hurt weighed in, saying the photo looked like “either a screwup or an effort by even the family to make Joe Biden disappear.”
Media analyst Joe Concha echoed that sentiment, remarking, “It’s as if Hunter Biden is running the family. He’s in the middle. Joe should be in the middle – instead, he’s like an uncle who tried to sneak in at the last second. I almost feel sorry for the guy that he’s relegated to that.”
The image also reignited ongoing concerns about Biden’s health. Earlier this year, the former president was diagnosed with prostate cancer that has spread to his bones, and his public appearances have become increasingly rare.
Biden, the oldest individual ever to serve as president, faced escalating pressure from within his own party last year to abandon his reelection bid after a disastrous debate performance against President Donald Trump raised renewed doubts about his mental acuity. He formally exited the race weeks later, marking a dramatic end to his political career.

What was intended as a warm holiday family message instead became a visual metaphor for Biden’s altered political standing. While some supporters expressed sympathy and offered prayers for his health, critics seized on the image as emblematic of his decline.
“Hard to imagine a more fitting image,” one commentator wrote. “Hidden behind his family, forgotten by his party, and fading from public view.”
Neither Biden nor his family have responded publicly to the online reaction.
The renewed attention comes as congressional Republicans continue to investigate Biden’s final years in office. Earlier this year, the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform released a report alleging that senior aides concealed Biden’s cognitive and physical decline and, in some cases, exercised presidential authority without his direct involvement.
The 54-page report, titled “The Biden Autopen Presidency: Decline, Delusion, and Deception in the White House,” alleges that as Biden’s condition worsened, top aides — including Dr. Kevin O’Connor, Annie Tomasini, and Anthony Bernal — assumed control over key decisions, relied heavily on the presidential autopen, and failed to maintain proper documentation.
Committee Chairman James Comer (R-Ky.) called the findings “one of the biggest political scandals in U.S. history,” arguing that “executive actions performed by Biden White House staff and signed by autopen are null and void.”
As President Trump continues his second term, the viral Christmas photo served as a striking reminder of how quickly political fortunes can change — and how far Joe Biden has faded from the center of American public life.
