White House Fires Back at Jasmine Crockett, Calls Her a “Moron” After She Misleads Public About President Trump’s Ballroom Remarks
In what could mark a historic first from an official government channel, the White House publicly called out Texas Democrat Rep. Jasmine Crockett — labeling her a “moron” after she deliberately twisted comments from Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt.
Crockett, in her typical partisan fashion, took to X (formerly Twitter) on Thursday to mock President Donald Trump, falsely claiming that his “main priority” as President was building a ballroom addition to the White House.
“Today, the White House Press Secretary told the country that this ridiculous damn ballroom is ‘the president’s main priority’ … not reopening the government, not lowering the cost of groceries, not lowering the cost of housing, not lowering the cost of healthcare… building a ballroom,” Crockett posted.

Her statement quickly fell apart under scrutiny. While Press Secretary Leavitt did mention that the ballroom was a “priority,” it was clearly in response to a specific question about ongoing White House renovations, not the administration’s policy agenda. Crockett’s post, therefore, was a blatant case of manipulation — or perhaps sheer ignorance.
The official White House Rapid Response 47 account didn’t hold back. In what might be the first-ever instance of such blunt language from an official White House source, it fired off a scathing correction:
“Not what she said and you know it, moron. Stop lying.”
The account clarified the full exchange:
“She was answering a question specifically about construction projects on the White House grounds.
QUESTION: ‘In addition to the ballroom and the Rose Garden patio, is the President looking at any other renovations or significant kind of projects here at the White House?’
@PressSec: ‘Not to my knowledge, no, but he’s a builder at heart, clearly, and so his heart and his mind is always churning about how to improve things here on the White House grounds. But at this moment in time, of course, the ballroom is really the President’s main priority.’”

The clip — later reposted by Turning Point USA spokesman Andrew Kolvet — confirmed Leavitt’s context exactly as described. Yet Crockett and the Democratic Party’s official X account pushed the distorted version anyway.
The blunder left many conservatives amused, noting how easily Crockett’s smear unraveled once facts entered the picture. Whether her deception was intentional or simply the result of poor comprehension remains unclear — though her track record doesn’t inspire confidence.
Once again, Democrats’ eagerness to attack President Trump has only exposed their own carelessness — and in this case, invited a stinging public humiliation from the very institution they tried to weaponize.
