WILD MOMENT: Stephen Miller Wants Top Figure Fired While On Fox News

Stephen Miller, serving as the White House Deputy Chief of Staff for Policy, appeared on Fox News Tuesday and directly criticized the network’s polling methods, suggesting to host John Roberts that Fox should “fire its pollster.”

The comment came in response to Roberts referencing new Fox News data that showed former President Donald Trump “underwater” on major issues, with 59% disapproving of his performance on inflation and 58% on tariffs. Dismissing the survey, Miller pointed out that just a few months ago, the network’s polls favored former Vice President Kamala Harris as the likely winner of the 2024 race.

“I don’t want to make things awkward for you, John, but it is our opinion that Fox News needs to fire its pollster,” Miller said during the broadcast. “But, I won’t surprise you with that. I don’t think you’re surprised that I’m saying that. But the Fox News pollster has always been wrong about President Trump. They were the ones who said all summer long that Kamala Harris was gonna be the 47th president of the United States. So, we don’t acknowledge any of that polling.”

Following Miller’s remarks, Roberts reaffirmed the network’s commitment to its polling results.

“You might have been watching earlier when Stephen Miller joined us here on America Reports. He made a remark that was critical of our polling, but here at Fox News, we stand by our polling as we always have,” Roberts told viewers.

Throughout the election cycle, Fox News released multiple surveys showing varying results in a Harris–Trump head-to-head. A September 18 poll had Harris ahead 50% to 48%, while an August 28 survey gave her a two-point lead in Georgia.

However, by October, the numbers started leaning toward Trump. An October 16 poll put him in front with 50% to 48%, and a similar result followed on October 23, also showing a slim Trump advantage.

Polls measuring Trump’s first 100 days back in office gave him 55% approval on border security and 47% on immigration. But when it came to foreign affairs, taxation, and deportation, his disapproval numbers were notably higher.

Although many mainstream polls report declining support for Trump across several issues, Miller and others argue these assessments don’t align with their data.

Pollster Matt Towery spoke on The Ingraham Angle Monday, backing Miller’s skepticism and defending Trump’s continued appeal. According to Towery, Trump’s adherence to his original platform—tough border policies, reshoring jobs, negotiating trade deals, and cutting prices—is helping him retain a solid base.

“None of them, to be honest with you,” Towery said when asked about the credibility of recent negative polling. “I have a group of pollsters I look at who are public pollsters who’ve been right in all three of Trump’s cycles. We happen to be one of those. None of us have had him down by any of these numbers we’ve seen before. The only one that might concern me at all is the Fox News one because Fox did well in the 24 cycle.”

When questioned about other outlets—ABC News, CBS News, and CNN—showing Trump’s approval sinking, Towery expressed doubts about their accuracy.

“I looked at some of them. They are absolutely, I don’t like to criticize polling, but how can you have a poll, as John McLaughlin, a good friend of mine pointed out, how could you have a poll that shows Donald Trump at 39%?” Towery asked. “But yet when you ask people who they voted for and they said they voted for Trump, like 95% said they would vote for him again.”

Towery dismissed the idea that Trump’s support was collapsing, arguing that the president’s bold agenda might explain slight dips but not a nosedive.

“He’s not in free fall. He’s had a little bit of slippage because he’s doing a lot. He’s breaking a lot of eggs to make an omelet, but he is not dropping in any significant way. I can guarantee you, and I’m just not paying any attention to this nonsense. They were wrong in the elections in the past, and they’re going to be wrong about his approval rating as well,” Towery concluded.
