‘You Magnificent Idiot’: Eric Swalwell Becomes a National Joke After Deranged “Wrecking Ball” Demand
Democrats’ obsession with President Donald Trump has long crossed the line from political rivalry into full-blown psychosis. But few manage to embody that derangement quite like California Rep. Eric Swalwell.
On Sunday, the congressman delivered one of the most absurd moments yet in the left’s meltdown over President Trump’s new White House ballroom. In a now-infamous post on X, Swalwell demanded that the next Democratic presidential nominee pledge to “take a wrecking ball” to Trump’s ballroom “on DAY ONE.”
Don’t even think of seeking the Democratic nomination for president unless you pledge to take a wrecking ball to the Trump Ballroom on DAY ONE.

The unhinged statement came just a day after National Review writer Jeff Blehar jokingly predicted that some Democrat would inevitably take their anti-Trump hysteria that far. Blehar, upon seeing Swalwell’s post, replied perfectly: “You magnificent idiot, you.”

Swalwell’s meltdown captures the essence of modern liberalism — blind hatred for President Trump, detached from logic or reality. Democrats don’t oppose the ballroom for any reason rooted in policy or principle; they simply can’t stand anything associated with Trump’s name.
In National Review, Blehar had mocked this very obsession, writing that it was only a matter of time before some Democrat publicly vowed to destroy Trump’s ballroom — a prediction meant as parody, not prophecy. Yet, Swalwell managed to turn satire into news.
The Cult of Anti-Trump Hatred
Democrats’ fixation on Trump goes far beyond political opposition — it’s spiritual. Having abandoned faith in God, they’ve replaced worship with hatred. The left no longer debates ideas; it preaches the gospel of anti-Trump fanaticism.
Conservative journalist Mollie Hemingway summed it up perfectly on X:
“The left is unable to mentally distinguish between Islamic terrorism that kills thousands and … building improvements. Horrific break with reality we’re watching here.”

For Democrats, Trump Derangement Syndrome isn’t a joke — it’s their religion. But when their “faith” leads them to call for demolishing a ballroom, mockery becomes the only fitting response.
Swalwell’s Long Record of Self-Parody
This isn’t Swalwell’s first brush with public humiliation. The congressman infamously faced scrutiny in 2020 over reports that a suspected Chinese spy, Christine Fang — known as “Fang Fang” — had cultivated relationships with U.S. politicians, including him.
And who could forget 2019, when Swalwell appeared to audibly pass gas live on MSNBC?

Popular conservative account Catturd, with more than 3.9 million followers, summed up Swalwell’s reputation in a brutal post earlier this month:
“What’s your claim to fame besides being an easy John for a Chinese honeypot spy and farting like a mountain goat eating tofu on live TV?”

A Ballroom Worth Naming
President Trump has every reason to ignore such childish antics — or better yet, to lean into them. Naming the new ballroom after First Lady Melania Trump would be the perfect touch. It would infuriate the left and remind Americans that no amount of liberal hysteria can erase beauty, tradition, or class.
If future Democrat leaders take Swalwell’s “wrecking ball” pledge seriously, it will only underscore how far their party has drifted from sanity.
Until then, conservatives can take comfort in this: Eric Swalwell remains the living, breathing embodiment of Trump Derangement Syndrome — and the rest of us are free to laugh.
