Bannon Issues Stern Warning To Trump One Week Before Taking Office

Continuing his criticism of Donald Trump’s more recent allies, Steve Bannon launched a scathing attack on Mark Zuckerberg on Monday, accusing the Meta CEO of being "untrustworthy" and motivated solely by "self-interest."
Zuckerberg’s Meta, which owns Facebook, Instagram, and Threads, recently introduced a sudden policy shift that surprised both users and employees.
Among these changes, Zuckerberg announced plans to end the fact-checking initiative, supported efforts to label LGBT individuals as mentally ill, promoted his most Trump-aligned executive, and appointed UFC President Dana White to Meta’s board of directors.
On his War Room show Monday, Bannon ramped up his criticism of Zuckerberg, calling him "dishonest and self-serving."
“Zuckerberg can’t be trusted — at all!” Bannon exclaimed. “He came into the Oval Office when I was there, and I went absolutely bonkers. But they still let him in. Later, he put up $450 million of his own money to steal the 2020 election. To steal the 2020 election.”
Bannon was referring to the controversial "Zuckerbucks" program, which funneled over $400 million to nonprofits aimed at bolstering election administration and infrastructure during the 2020 election. Analysts have argued that counties favoring Biden were three times more likely to receive funding than Trump-leaning areas, with Democrats benefiting significantly in key swing states through mail-in voting and other measures.
Speaking to the New York Post on Sunday, Bannon doubled down, labeling Zuckerberg as “the worst of the worst.”
“He had the biggest platform and went out of his way to crush the truth,” Bannon asserted. “Remember the laptop? Remember anything from the pandemic? He’s been dead wrong on everything. He’s immature and lacks the judgment to wield that much power and control.”
Bannon suggested Zuckerberg and other Big Tech leaders were now "supplicants" to Trump as the former president’s influence grows.
“But after six months or a year of hard fighting and resistance, can Zuckerberg and the others be trusted? The only thing they can be counted on for is looking after their own self-interest,” he said.
In November 2020, Bannon was permanently banned from Facebook after suggesting FBI Director Christopher Wray and Dr. Anthony Fauci "needed to be decapitated" for not aligning with Trump’s administration. Zuckerberg’s refusal to reverse the ban, according to Bannon, reflects lingering animosity.
“I don’t care how much he grovels to Donald Trump now as a supplicant. He will turn, and he will turn hard as soon as it suits his self-interest,” Bannon told the Post. “Zuckerberg places the republic in a very dangerous position, burdening the country with what I call ‘nerd culture’ and ‘nerd rule.’ The mix of tech and money is a unique national security threat to the U.S.”
Bannon’s criticism of Big Tech extends to Elon Musk. In a recent interview with the Italian outlet Corriere della Sera, translated by Breitbart, Bannon vowed to oust Musk before Trump’s inauguration.
“I will have Elon Musk run out of here by Inauguration Day,” he declared. “He will not have a blue pass to the White House. He will not have full access. He’ll be like any other person.”
Bannon described Musk as “a truly evil guy, a very bad guy,” adding, “I made it my personal mission to take this guy down. Before, I tolerated it because he invested money. I’m not prepared to tolerate it anymore.”
Whether Bannon still holds influence over Trump’s inner circle remains unclear, but his fiery rhetoric against figures like Zuckerberg and Musk shows no signs of slowing.
