Breaking: Arrest Made After Attack on Vice President J.D. Vance’s Home
Federal authorities have taken a suspect into custody following an overnight attack on a residence connected to Vice President J.D. Vance in Cincinnati.
According to a spokesperson for the U.S. Secret Service, the incident occurred shortly after midnight. An adult male was detained by Secret Service personnel and later transferred to local law enforcement custody.
The spokesperson told NBC News that the suspect allegedly caused damage to a personal residence associated with the vice president. Authorities said the damage included broken exterior windows.
“The U.S. Secret Service is coordinating with the Cincinnati Police Department and the U.S. Attorney’s Office,” the agency said.

The Secret Service confirmed that the individual was detained shortly after midnight and that coordination is underway with the Cincinnati Police Department and the U.S. Attorney’s Office to determine appropriate charges. As of Monday morning, authorities had not released additional details about the suspect or a possible motive.
Vance’s press secretary said the vice president and his family were in Washington, D.C., at the time of the incident, according to NBC News.
The attack comes amid a broader wave of politically charged incidents targeting prominent conservatives nationwide. It also follows the dramatic arrest of now-former Venezuelan strongman Nicolás Maduro, who was taken into custody during a high-risk military operation over the weekend—an event that has sparked outrage across much of the political left.
As of early Monday, officials said it was unclear whether the attack on Vance’s home was directly connected to Maduro’s arrest.
