Breaking: Portland DA Won't Prosecute Conservative Journalist Who Was Assaulted Then Arrested by Local Police
After years of conservatives warning that America’s justice system has been weaponized against them, there are signs the tide may finally be turning.
The Multnomah County District Attorney’s Office has officially declined to pursue charges against conservative journalist Nick Sortor, who was arrested during a protest outside an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) facility in Portland, Oregon. The development, first reported by local outlet KATU-TV, follows what Sortor described as a politically motivated arrest by the city’s far-left authorities.
Portland police claimed Sortor and two others were detained amid a “chaotic scene” involving protesters, but Sortor says he wasn’t there to join them — he was there to document and expose what he called Portland’s “corrupt and rotten” law enforcement establishment.

You’re right, Chief Day. I came here to show MILLIONS AND MILLIONS how corrupt and rotten your police department is.
Thanks for your help with that! pic.twitter.com/sXKl2UXeph

Sortor said he was the one being attacked by ICE protesters when police moved in and arrested him instead of the agitators. After the DA’s office quietly dropped the charges, Sortor declared “VICTORY” online, saying his team had pushed for a discovery phase into alleged coordination between Portland police and far-left antifa groups.
In a follow-up post, Sortor revealed that his attorneys are preparing legal action against the Portland Police Bureau.
“I will still be appearing in court at the Portland Justice Center at 2pm PT to finalize this,” he said. “And trust me, this is ONLY the beginning.”

The case highlights growing scrutiny of local and state prosecutors in Democrat-controlled cities — many of whom have been accused of pursuing ideologically motivated cases against conservatives, while turning a blind eye to left-wing violence. Under President Donald J. Trump’s administration, federal agencies have vowed to ensure equal justice under the law — something critics say was long absent in progressive jurisdictions like Portland.
