Christian Fired by Trump Admin for His Beliefs Exposes What Really Went Down, And He's Got the Receipts
One week after his abrupt firing from the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, conservative author and former Trump campaign official Floyd Brown broke his silence — and what he’s revealing could expose a stunning case of religious discrimination inside a federally funded cultural institution.
Brown, a longtime conservative activist and founder of The Western Journal, took a position as VP of Development at the Kennedy Center just weeks ago. But after CNN reached out with questions about his Christian beliefs — particularly his views on traditional marriage — Brown says he was given an ultimatum: recant his faith-based positions or be fired.
I am pleased to announce that Ric Grenell will serve as the Interim Executive Director of The Kennedy Center. Ric shares my Vision for a GOLDEN AGE of American Arts and Culture, and will be overseeing the daily operations of the Center. NO MORE DRAG SHOWS, OR OTHER ANTI-AMERICAN…

View PlansCNN proudly implied they played a role in Brown’s dismissal, boasting that he was terminated “just hours” after they questioned his views on marriage and sexuality. Brown, a professing Christian and bestselling author of Counterpunch, has unapologetically spoken about biblical marriage — views that, until recently, were considered mainstream among millions of American Christians.
While CNN labeled him a “far-right activist,” what’s clear is that Brown holds values aligned with traditional Christianity — values that the Biden DOJ and liberal elites increasingly label “extremist.”
Making matters worse, the Kennedy Center is led by interim director Richard Grenell — a Trump loyalist who is openly gay and has described himself as a Christian as well. In a post on X, Brown accused Grenell of personally ordering his firing.
“Floyd, you must recant your belief in traditional marriage and your past statements on the topic, or you will be fired,” Brown says he was told.
“Needless to say, I refused to recant and was shown the door.”
Grenell has since denied knowing Brown, claiming he wasn’t involved in hiring or firing him — a claim Brown flatly refutes, citing direct meetings, campaign ties, and even phone calls during his brief tenure.
Brown says he was in the room when Grenell’s name popped up on his supervisor’s phone. He says she reluctantly told him, after the call, that Grenell demanded his firing.
“Lisa was adamant that she didn’t want to fire me and was forced to do it,” Brown wrote.
Brown’s story dropped just as the Supreme Court issued a unanimous ruling reaffirming that Title VII of the Civil Rights Act protects all Americans — including white, straight, Christian men — from employment discrimination.
Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson, writing for the court, made it clear: You don’t have to be a minority to suffer discrimination under federal law.
The Act bars discrimination against “any individual because of such individual’s race, color, religion, sex, or national origin.”
In this case, the facts appear damning:
- Brown was targeted by CNN specifically for his Christian views.
- He was given a direct ultimatum to deny those views or be fired.
- He refused and was immediately dismissed.
- The Kennedy Center’s leadership has offered contradictory explanations, with Grenell denying involvement while multiple sources — including Brown’s own account — say otherwise.
President Donald Trump, whose executive order on “Eradicating Anti-Christian Bias” is still in effect, should not ignore what happened to Floyd Brown. In fact, this is a perfect opportunity for the president to show the Christian base — the very heart of the MAGA movement — that religious liberty matters in his administration.
It has been one week since my firing as a Vice President of the Kennedy Center for the Preforming Arts for my belief in traditional marriage. Brown’s call is simple: reinstate him, and hold those responsible accountable.

View PlansHe shouldn’t have to grovel to keep a job for believing what the Bible teaches — especially at an institution now being reformed to reflect a “Golden Age of American Arts and Culture,” as Trump promised when he appointed Grenell to lead.
If Christians can’t work in government institutions without compromising their faith, what exactly is left of religious freedom?
