CNN Releases New Footage of Minneapolis ICE Shooting — and It Undercuts the Left’s Narrative

Newly released surveillance footage aired by CNN appears to bolster the argument that an Immigration and Customs Enforcement officer acted in self-defense during a fatal shooting in Minneapolis on Wednesday — an outcome that complicates claims pushed by progressive activists and Democrats.

The video, obtained from a nearby home and broadcast by CNN, shows an SUV driven by Renee Nicole Good, 37, pulling into the middle of a Minneapolis street to block ICE officers during an active operation. As CNN reported, agents moved toward the vehicle, and when Good attempted to flee the scene, shots were fired.

Anchor Anderson Cooper explained that the footage captures roughly four minutes leading up to the shooting.

According to Cooper’s account, Good initially pulled over to the side of the road, and a passenger exited the vehicle — believed to be her partner, Rebecca Brown Good. The footage suggests an attempt to provoke or manufacture a confrontation, as Rebecca is seen recording Renee’s interaction with ICE officers before Renee tried to escape.

WARNING: The following videos contain vulgar language and scenes of a violent confrontation that some may find offensive.

After the shooting, Rebecca was captured on video stating, “I made her come down here. It’s my fault.”

The surveillance footage further indicates that when ICE officers approached and ordered Renee to exit the SUV, she put the vehicle in reverse and made a sudden turn, placing an officer directly in her path. The agent drew his firearm; when Renee accelerated forward toward him and struck him, the officer fired.

That sequence is plainly visible in the video below.

On Wednesday, Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem noted that ICE officers have faced more than 100 vehicle-ramming incidents in recent weeks — a disturbing trend amid increasingly heated rhetoric surrounding immigration enforcement.

This context directly challenges assertions that Renee Good was a “legal observer” who was murdered by ICE — claims echoed by Rep. Ilhan Omar and other Democrats. The CNN footage instead suggests Renee and Rebecca Good were deliberately escalating the situation.

The increasingly incendiary language from the left — including hyperbolic claims that the administration of current President Donald J. Trump operates a “Gestapo” to enforce immigration law — has consequences. Such rhetoric risks encouraging reckless behavior, undermining respect for lawful authority, and tragically, contributing to outcomes like the death of Renee Good.
