DHS Agents Search Ilhan Omar’s DC Home In Pre-Dawn Raid

Federal Homeland Security Investigations agents searched a Washington, D.C.-area residence associated with Rep. Ilhan Omar early Monday as part of an ongoing investigation into immigration records, according to a source familiar with the matter who spoke to Fox News Digital.

The inquiry reportedly concerns paperwork submitted by Omar’s late father when she was a child. The Justice Department confirmed that agents executed a court-authorized search warrant but did not say what evidence they were seeking.

“Today in the Washington, D.C., area, Homeland Security Investigations executed a judicially authorized search warrant secured by the Department of Justice,” a DOJ spokesperson told Fox News Digital. “This enforcement action is part of an ongoing federal investigation.”

The search marks a new development in an investigation that administration officials acknowledged last month. In September, White House border czar Tom Homan confirmed that Homeland Security Investigations was conducting a criminal inquiry but declined to provide details.

“I know things are going on, but I can’t give specifics of what’s happening,” Homan said.

Homan said immigration laws apply equally to public officials and other Americans.

“If someone committed an immigration violation, if someone committed marriage fraud or anything like that, regardless if they’re a congressman or not, no one’s above the law,” Homan said.

He said investigators would determine whether the allegations warranted further action. Homan did not identify any specific charges being considered against Omar.

Omar said in September that federal authorities had not contacted her about a criminal investigation. She has rejected allegations concerning her immigration and marriage history, calling them politically motivated. She has repeatedly denied entering into a fraudulent marriage to obtain immigration benefits and has described the accusations as false and discriminatory.

As of Monday morning, her office had not issued a detailed public response to the search. The Justice Department had not announced charges against her.

Fox News Digital reported that investigators are examining documents submitted when Omar was a child. Omar was born in Somalia in 1982 and left the country with her family during its civil war. After spending several years in a refugee camp in Kenya, the family relocated to the United States in the 1990s. Omar later became a naturalized U.S. citizen.

Authorities have not identified any document they believe contains false information. It is also unclear whether investigators suspect Omar herself of wrongdoing or are reviewing actions by others involved in her family’s immigration process. The reported paperwork was prepared when she was a minor, a distinction that could matter to any eventual legal case.

Federal immigration-fraud prosecutions generally require prosecutors to prove the specific misrepresentation alleged and its significance to the immigration process. The investigation remains ongoing, and no charges against Omar have been announced.

The inquiry comes as President Donald Trump’s administration has emphasized investigations into alleged immigration and naturalization fraud, including false statements on applications and fraudulent marriages.
