Doocy Reveals What Trump Will Do With Tesla He Bought To Support Musk

Tensions between President Donald J. Trump and Tesla CEO Elon Musk escalated Friday, with reports emerging that the red Tesla Musk presented to President Trump during a March White House event may soon be given away or sold off—another signal of the deepening split between two of the country’s most prominent and polarizing billionaires.

Fox News White House Correspondent Peter Doocy revealed on Fox & Friends that the red Tesla—still parked in the White House driveway—is likely on the chopping block.

“We’re told that that Tesla, the red Tesla with Florida tags, is either going to be given away or sold off,” Doocy said.

The event in question took place earlier this year on the South Lawn, where Musk handed off the vehicle to President Trump amid a promotional push for Tesla—even as the electric carmaker’s stock cratered and public backlash mounted over Musk’s sweeping cost-cutting policies within the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). Those policies triggered outrage, including firebombings of Teslas and a nosedive in the company's valuation.

Despite the photo-op, President Trump openly lamented that he wouldn’t be allowed to drive the car, even after accepting it.

Doocy emphasized that the fallout between Trump and Musk had been brewing for weeks, making the current standoff anything but surprising. Reports that the two might speak by phone were quickly shut down.

“Aides are telling me that is not something they are tracking,” Doocy said. “It’s possible that some staffers might try to talk to Musk, but no Trump and Musk call—at least not that we know about.”

President Trump addressed the feud in classic fashion—direct, firm, and composed—during a Friday morning phone interview with CNN.

“I’m not even thinking about Elon. He’s got a problem. The poor guy’s got a problem,” Trump said.

When asked whether he planned to speak with Musk, Trump added, “No. I won’t be speaking to him for a while I guess, but I wish him well.”

Insiders close to the President described him as more disappointed than angry. “Bummed” was the word one aide used to describe Trump’s demeanor Thursday night, following Musk’s inflammatory statements.

Musk’s spiral began earlier in the week, when he bizarrely claimed credit for Trump’s 2024 reelection victory, pushed for the President’s impeachment, and even made the baseless assertion that Trump was “in” the Epstein files—despite no public evidence to support such a claim.

“That is the real reason they have not been made public. Have a nice day, DJT!” Musk sneered in a social media post.

President Trump fired back on Truth Social, accusing Musk of having gone “CRAZY” and floated the idea of terminating government contracts and subsidies that have helped fuel Musk’s empire.

Vice President JD Vance weighed in on X to reaffirm his unwavering support for President Trump amid the turmoil, although he stopped short of directly criticizing Musk—perhaps a nod to their past working relationship.

“President Trump has done more than anyone in my lifetime to earn the trust of the movement he leads. I am proud to stand beside him,” Vance wrote.

He then took a direct shot at the mainstream media’s narrative: “There are many lies the corporate media tells about President Trump. One of the most glaring is that he’s impulsive or short-tempered. Anyone who has seen him operate under pressure knows that’s ridiculous.”

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt downplayed the feud as a distraction, making clear that the administration remains focused on delivering real results.

“The President is focused on passing this historic piece of legislation and making our country great again,” Leavitt said, referencing the sweeping tax and immigration reform package that Musk had recently criticized.

Leavitt also noted that Musk’s attacks stemmed from his frustration that Trump’s “One Big Beautiful Bill” didn’t include carveouts for the billionaire’s personal interests.

Despite his public vitriol, Musk appeared to soften his tone just hours later. In a whiplash-inducing reversal, he “liked” a post from a small account on X urging him to “make peace” and “cool off.”

Whether that olive branch was genuine or strategic remains to be seen.
