Elon Musk Threatens to Launch ‘America Party’ if GOP Backs Debt-Busting Bill
Tech billionaire Elon Musk is sending a direct warning to Washington: if Republican lawmakers cave to pressure and pass President Donald Trump’s “Big Beautiful Bill,” he may launch a brand-new political movement to take them down.
Musk, CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, took to X on Monday to blast the bill’s staggering $5 trillion debt ceiling hike. “It is obvious with the insane spending of this bill, which increases the debt ceiling by a record FIVE TRILLION DOLLARS that we live in a one-party country – the PORKY PIG PARTY!! Time for a new political party that actually cares about the people,” he posted on his own platform.
If this insane spending bill passes, the America Party will be formed the next day.

Our country needs an alternative to the Democrat-Republican uniparty so that the people actually have a VOICE.
Musk followed that up with a promise that if the bill passes, the “America Party” will be born. “If this insane spending bill passes, the America Party will be formed the next day,” Musk wrote to his 220 million followers. “Our country needs an alternative to the Democrat-Republican uniparty so that the people actually have a VOICE.”
The New York Times reported that Musk’s dissatisfaction with GOP leaders has reached a boiling point. While a few Republicans have voiced opposition to the bill, most appear ready to go along with it—prompting Musk to take aim at what he calls “the uniparty.”
Later that night, Musk offered his endorsement to Representative Thomas Massie (R-KY), one of the few holding the line against reckless spending. Massie has consistently opposed bloated federal budgets and was among the earliest to criticize the debt deal.
But Musk didn’t stop there.
He issued a blistering threat: nearly the entire Republican delegation in both chambers “will lose their primary next year if it is the last thing I do on this Earth.” Coming from a man who spent nearly $300 million supporting Republican candidates in the 2024 elections, that’s not just a rant — it’s a political earthquake.
He also didn’t hesitate to name names. Musk called out Representatives Andy Harris (R-MD) and Chip Roy (R-TX), both of whom are aligned with the House Freedom Caucus. He accused them of hypocrisy for pretending to be fiscal hawks while green-lighting what he calls “insanity-level spending.”
Even Senator Markwayne Mullin (R-OK) found himself in Musk’s crosshairs after a heated exchange online.
President Trump, meanwhile, pushed back hard—reminding Musk of the billions in government subsidies his companies have received over the years. “Elon may get more subsidy than any human being in history, by far, and without subsidies, Elon would probably have to close up shop and head back home to South Africa,” the President posted. “No more Rocket launches, Satellites, or Electric Car Production, and our Country would save a FORTUNE.”
President Trump added a jab at Musk’s own initiative for government reform: “Perhaps we should have DOGE take a good, hard, look at this?” he wrote, referring to the Department of Government Efficiency — a Musk-branded watchdog group established with President Trump’s own blessing.
Musk’s relationship with the GOP has always been rocky. Once a Democrat, he shifted right in 2022 but never fully aligned with Republican orthodoxy. His support surged just before the 2024 elections, but following a high-profile spat with President Trump in June, Musk’s calls for a new party gained momentum.
Back then, he floated a poll on X asking Americans if it was “time to create a new political party in America that represents the 80% in the middle.”
Now, with his patience running out and Republicans seemingly surrendering to D.C. pork, the talk has turned to action — or so Musk claims.
Still, for now, it remains mostly bluster. There’s been no official paperwork, no team, no infrastructure behind the proposed “America Party.” Just frustration, fire, and fury.
Just five weeks ago, Musk pledged to reduce his political spending in the 2026 cycle. That pledge, like many in Washington, appears to have evaporated.
And if his latest posts are any indication, Elon Musk is no longer playing nice. He’s preparing for political war.
