FBI Nabs Former Cuomo Aide in Explosive CCP-Linked COVID Fraud Case
In a bombshell development that underscores growing concerns over Democrat corruption and foreign influence, a former top aide to disgraced New York Governor Andrew Cuomo has been arrested in a sweeping FBI corruption probe tied to pandemic-era fraud. The case, described by federal officials as one of the most brazen abuses of public trust in recent history, also carries shocking allegations of collusion with the Chinese Communist Party.
Linda Sun, who continued to hold a position of power under current Democrat Governor Kathy Hochul, now faces a long list of federal charges after allegedly orchestrating a multi-million dollar fraudulent PPE scheme during the height of the COVID-19 crisis.
According to The New York Post, Sun — along with her husband, Chris Hu — is accused of leveraging her political position to steer lucrative state contracts to companies where the couple held financial stakes. But the scandal takes a more sinister turn.
FBI Director Kash Patel revealed that Sun was allegedly operating as an unregistered agent of the Chinese Communist Party while exploiting a deadly health crisis to enrich herself and further foreign interests.
“While Americans were locked down and desperate for PPE, Linda Sun and Chris Hu cashed in – allegedly lining their pockets while serving CCP interests,” Patel posted on X. “This is corruption that endangered lives. The FBI will not tolerate public officials who sell out their country.”
The couple’s illicit profits reportedly soared into the millions, as they face charges of honest services wire fraud, bribery, conspiracy, tax evasion, and defrauding the United States. Prosecutors allege that Sun forged documents appearing to be from Chinese government agencies to legitimize PPE transactions.
U.S. Attorney Joseph Nocella did not mince words in his statement:
“As alleged, Linda Sun not only acted as unregistered agent of the government of the People’s Republic of China, but also enriched herself to the tune of millions of dollars when New York State was at its most vulnerable at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.”
He added, “We demand better from our public servants, and this Office will continue to hold accountable public officials who enrich themselves at the expense of the New York taxpayers.”
Christopher Raia, Assistant Director in Charge at the FBI, emphasized that the scheme was not only corrupt — it was deadly:
“This alleged scheme not only created an unearned and undisclosed benefit for the defendants and their relatives, but it also exploited the state’s critical need for resources in a health crisis.”
The scandal is part of a broader crackdown by the FBI and DOJ targeting pandemic-era fraud. FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino announced what he called the largest healthcare fraud investigation in DOJ history, encompassing 50 federal districts and exposing nearly $15 billion in intended losses.
“Public corruption will not be tolerated,” Bongino declared. “We charged 324 defendants, 96 of them medical professionals, and seized $245 million. If you’re stealing from the public, or violating your oath to serve, then we’re coming for you too. God bless America, and all those who defend Her.”
Sun's legal team, however, claims the allegations are politically motivated and unsupported.
“The newest allegations continue the government’s trend of making and publicizing feverish accusations unmoored from the facts and evidence that we expect will actually come out at trial,” attorney Jarrod L. Schaeffer told The New York Post.
Despite those protests, the gravity of the charges — combined with the shocking CCP link — raises critical questions about the security of our institutions under Democrat leadership and the true cost of COVID corruption.
