Ex-NFL Player Blames Walz For Minnesota Shootings: ‘Weak, Emasculated Leader’
Former NFL player Jack Brewer is speaking out following the political assassination of Minnesota House Speaker Melissa Hortman and the shooting of State Sen. John Hoffman—slamming Democratic leadership and accusing Governor Tim Walz of turning Minnesota into a leftist dystopia.
Brewer, who played for the Minnesota Vikings and University of Minnesota Golden Gophers, told Fox News that the Minnesota he once knew is unrecognizable under the rule of “weak” Democrats.
“Minnesota has become the capital of chaos in America,” Brewer said. “That’s not a reflection of the true people of Minnesota. There are a lot of good people there. But the liberal hub around Minneapolis and St. Paul has taken over, and it’s dangerous. Tim Walz is the leader of that. His attorney general, Keith Ellison, is right there with him.”

View PlansThe killings unfolded early Saturday morning when 57-year-old Vance Boelter allegedly posed as a police officer, showed up at the homes of at least four elected officials, and opened fire—killing Hortman and her husband, and injuring Hoffman and his wife in a separate shooting.
According to federal investigators, Boelter had “No Kings” protest flyers and a manifesto targeting over 70 political figures in his possession—including Governor Walz, Lt. Gov. Peggy Flanagan, and members of the Minnesota congressional delegation.
The “No Kings” materials match those used by anti-Trump protesters who staged demonstrations across the country on Saturday opposing the administration’s immigration enforcement operations.
Brewer didn’t mince words in linking the violence to Democrat-fueled division and a rejection of American values.
“Tim Walz is the example of a weak, emasculated leader,” Brewer said. “That is not what God made fathers to be. It’s pathetic… The Democrats have gone so far left that if you’re not a raging liberal, you’re under attack.”
President Donald J. Trump, speaking to ABC’s Rachel Scott, also criticized Walz’s handling of the state, calling him “grossly incompetent.”
“Well, it’s a terrible thing. I think he’s a terrible governor,” Trump said. “But I may, I may call him. I may call other people too.”
President Trump condemned the violence in a statement issued shortly after the shooting:
“Such horrific violence will not be tolerated in the United States of America. God Bless the great people of Minnesota, a truly great place.”
Attorney General Pam Bondi confirmed that the Department of Justice is now leading the investigation, with FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino stating agents are “fully engaged” on the ground.
Boelter, who was captured Sunday evening after a 36-hour manhunt, allegedly planned the attacks over months, conducted surveillance on his targets, and left behind a chilling manifesto of politically motivated threats. His SUV reportedly included phony police plates, a silicone disguise, and military-style rifles.

“The root cause of all of this is evil,” Brewer said. “When you’re willing to attack, ridicule, riot and protest anyone who believes something different—even in your own party—you’ve gone too far.”
