Georgia Man Arrested For Threatening Trump’s Life

A Georgia man is facing federal charges after authorities say he made graphic threats online to kill President Donald Trump — just months after two separate assassination attempts against the former president.

According to the Justice Department, 29-year-old Jauan Rashun Porter of Rome, Georgia, posted a series of explicit death threats during a July 26 TikTok livestream discussing the Trump administration’s “Alligator Alcatraz” detention facility for illegal immigrants.

“There’s only one way to make America great, and that is putting a bullet in between Trump’s eyes,” Porter allegedly wrote, before repeating similar remarks over several minutes.

Prosecutors say Porter went on to declare:

“I’m gonna kill Donald Trump… I’m gonna put a 7.62 bullet inside his forehead… I’m gonna watch him bleed out and I’m gonna watch him die.”

When others on the livestream warned federal agents would be coming for him, Porter allegedly responded, “I’m gonna kill them too.”

Authorities say a search of Porter’s apartment turned up two pipes, pistol ammunition, and Tannerite — an explosive. Porter’s record reportedly includes prior convictions for terroristic threats, influencing a witness, mutiny in a penal institution, drug possession, battery, unlawful firearm possession, and domestic violence. He was on probation at the time of his arrest.

U.S. Attorney Theodore Hertzberg said the case demanded an immediate and coordinated response:

“We do not tolerate threats against public officials or law enforcement officers, and Porter will now face the consequences of his actions.”

Porter is scheduled for a detention hearing on August 12.

The arrest comes in the shadow of escalating threats against President Trump, who survived two separate assassination attempts in the past year. In July 2024, a sniper in Butler, Pennsylvania, grazed Trump’s ear with a bullet, killing one rally attendee and wounding two others before being neutralized by the Secret Service. Weeks later, armed suspect Ryan Routh was caught hiding near a Florida golf course where Trump was playing.

Routh — who prosecutors say once traveled to Ukraine to recruit fighters and attempted to acquire a rocket launcher — is facing federal charges. However, a judge recently allowed the Justice Department to keep classified evidence in his case under seal, citing “exceptionally grave” national security concerns.
