Ghislaine Maxwell Returns to Prison with Mysterious Item After 'Very Productive' Meeting with DOJ
Ghislaine Maxwell was back in the headlines Thursday as she met with Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche in a closed-door session lasting nearly five hours, fueling speculation that the Biden-era Justice Department’s years of stonewalling on the Jeffrey Epstein scandal may finally be cracking under pressure from President Donald Trump’s administration.
The meeting, held at a courthouse in Tallahassee, Florida, was part of an ongoing federal effort to pry open long-suppressed details surrounding the late financier and convicted sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein, who died under highly suspicious circumstances in federal custody in 2019. Maxwell, Epstein’s notorious associate, was convicted in 2021 for her role in his sprawling sex trafficking network and is currently serving a 20-year sentence.
As Maxwell returned to federal prison after the meeting, the New York Post reported she was seen carrying a “mysterious box” in a white bin—prompting further intrigue about what may have transpired behind closed doors.

View PlansHer attorney, David Oscar Markus, declined to share details about the substance of the meeting but confirmed its length.
“He took a full day and asked a lot of questions,” Markus said, adding that Maxwell “answered all the questions truthfully, honestly and to the best of her ability.”
Markus later posted on X, formerly Twitter:
“Looking forward to another productive day tomorrow. Ghislaine honestly answered every question. And she will continue to do so. We are grateful that the government is trying to uncover the truth. They have never before spoken with her and we trust the process.”

Blanche has said the focus of his interviews is to determine whether there are “anyone else who has committed crimes against victims.” Maxwell is expected to meet with him again Friday.
The Justice Department has repeatedly claimed it cannot locate an “Epstein client list,” and earlier this month released a terse statement declaring that no further information would be forthcoming. That announcement provoked a firestorm among President Trump’s supporters, who view the agency’s behavior as a blatant attempt to shield powerful elites implicated in the scandal.
The DOJ is also seeking the release of grand jury transcripts tied to Epstein and Maxwell. Previous attempts to secure transcripts from Florida grand juries in 2005 and 2007 were rejected, while efforts to obtain transcripts from the 2019 Epstein case and Maxwell’s subsequent trial remain ongoing.
Blanche offered little insight into the department’s broader plans.

Maxwell is currently appealing her conviction, a move opposed by the Justice Department, even as Trump-appointed officials continue to demand greater transparency about Epstein’s network.
