Greta Thunberg Banned from Venice After Being Caught Polluting One of City's Historic Treasures
Activist celebrity Greta Thunberg managed to prove her critics right yet again—this time by literally polluting a world-famous waterway to protest… pollution.
The environmental scold and 35 fellow agitators with Extinction Rebellion staged their latest bit of theatrical nonsense in Venice on Sunday, dumping green dye into the Grand Canal in what they claimed was an urgent warning about fossil fuels. Instead, the stunt earned them fines, mockery, and a temporary ban from the very city they were supposedly “saving.”
According to the New York Post, “The pouring of the green dye and other stunts performed by the environmental activists were in retaliation to Italy’s opposition to including fossil fuel restrictions in a deal agreed to at the COP30 summit on Friday in Brazil.”
Venice officials responded by hitting Thunberg’s group with a modest $172 penalty and issuing a 48-hour expulsion from the historic city. Extinction Rebellion also dyed waterways in 10 additional Italian cities, insisting this pollution was necessary to raise awareness of “the massive effects of climate collapse.”
Italian leaders were not impressed.
“I am even more surprised to see Greta Thunberg among the authors of this useless protest, who clearly aim – more than raising awareness about the environment – to give visibility to themselves,” said Veneto Province Governor Luca Zaia, as reported by the Post.

Calling the dye dump a “disrespectful act towards our city,” Zaia pointed out the obvious: intentionally contaminating waterways does more environmental harm than good.
Thunberg also faced well-deserved humiliation online. One baffled user captured the absurdity perfectly: “She polluted the water to save the environment???”

That’s great for the environment.
It’s the same script America has seen play out for decades. Democrats and their media allies relentlessly peddle climate hysteria, not as genuine stewardship, but as a political weapon—to justify social engineering, restrict energy use, and expand government control.
Environmental expert Patrick Moore, co-founder of Greenpeace, has repeatedly debunked the left’s narrative. He testified that there is “zero evidence” we are living through a climate emergency, calling modern climate alarmism a form of “pseudoscientific propaganda” intended to “redistribute wealth and usher in a new world order.”

"I am firmly of the belief that the future will show that this whole hysteria over climate change was a complete fabrication."

“It is clear that the highly exaggerated claims … are not so much out of concern for endangered species as they are a front for a radical political, social and economic ‘transformation’ of our entire civilization,” Moore warned Congress in 2019. “As with the manufactured ‘climate crisis,’ they are using the specter of mass extinction as a fear tactic to scare the public into compliance.”
That fear campaign has a long record of failure. The Competitive Enterprise Institute documented more than 50 years of doomsday predictions—from mass famines to ice ages to boiling oceans—that never materialized.

As the CEI report summarized: “Modern doomsayers have been predicting climate and environmental disaster since the 1960s. They continue to do so today. None of the apocalyptic predictions with due dates as of today have come true.”
Yet climate radicals like Thunberg cling to the script, functioning as mascots for a movement that uses environmental panic as cover for redistributing wealth, hiking taxes, and tightening government control over industry and daily life.
In the end, Greta’s latest performance did nothing to “save the planet.” It simply reaffirmed what millions already know: the climate crusade is more political theater than science, and its most visible icons are little more than props in a global ideological campaign.
