Hillary Gives Jill Biden A Chilling Look, Then Unloads on Joe Biden
For nearly two years, Democrats have tried to dodge one of the most damaging questions left behind by the 2024 election: Did Joe Biden’s refusal to step aside effectively help return President Donald Trump to the White House?
Hillary Clinton has now offered one of the bluntest answers from inside the Democratic establishment.
The former secretary of state and failed 2016 Democratic presidential nominee said Biden’s decision to seek a second term was “a terrible mistake,” arguing that it damaged his legacy, weakened the Democratic Party, and hurt the country.
“He made a terrible mistake. He made a terrible mistake for himself, his legacy, and for the country,” Clinton said.
The admission cuts directly against years of Democratic messaging.
For much of Biden’s presidency, party leaders publicly insisted he was capable of serving another four years. Concerns about his age, stamina, and mental sharpness were dismissed as Republican attacks. Friendly media outlets repeatedly treated questions about Biden’s fitness as unfair or politically motivated.
Now, after Democrats lost the White House, many of the same voices appear eager to rewrite the record.
Clinton’s comments are especially notable because she was one of the Democrats urging the party to stand behind Biden after his disastrous 2024 debate performance against President Trump. At the time, Democrats were still trying to contain panic inside their own ranks.
Today, Clinton is saying what millions of voters had already concluded long before Democratic elites were willing to admit it: Biden should never have run again.
Her argument is straightforward. If Biden had stepped aside in 2023, Democrats could have held a real primary and selected a stronger nominee before the general election.
“Very sadly, I believe whoever emerged from that contest, whether it was the vice president or a governor or a senator or anybody else, would have beaten Donald Trump,” Clinton said.

That claim is far from certain. President Trump defeated Kamala Harris after Democrats ultimately forced Biden out of the race and rushed to replace him only months before Election Day.
What is much harder for Democrats to deny is the political reality they faced by the summer of 2024.
Biden’s debate performance did not create the public’s concerns. It exposed them.
For years, voters had watched Biden struggle through public appearances, stumble over remarks, and appear increasingly disconnected from the demands of the office. Polling worsened. Donors panicked. Democratic lawmakers began leaking doubts privately before some eventually called on him publicly to withdraw.
By the time Biden exited the race and endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris, the party had already lost precious time.
Clinton is not alone in questioning the decision. Reports have indicated that Harris herself has criticized Biden’s choice to remain in the race. Democratic strategists, former administration officials, and party insiders have increasingly admitted that Biden’s insistence on running again placed the party in a nearly impossible position.
The timing of Clinton’s remarks made the criticism even more striking.
Just days after her comments became public, she appeared alongside Biden at the grand opening of the Obama Presidential Center in Chicago. The event brought together a who’s who of Democratic power: Barack Obama, Michelle Obama, Bill Clinton, Hillary Clinton, Joe Biden, Jill Biden, Kamala Harris, Gavin Newsom, Nancy Pelosi, Rahm Emanuel, Hollywood celebrities, and top Democratic donors.
On the surface, the ceremony was designed to celebrate Obama’s legacy.
But beneath the polished speeches and public smiles, it also served as a reminder of a Democratic Party still wrestling with the consequences of its own decisions.
Photographs from the event quickly spread online, with users dissecting interactions between the Bidens and Clintons. Conservative commentator Miranda Devine summed up one viral image with a simple line: “If looks could kill.”
Whether the photograph truly revealed personal tension is impossible to know. Clinton’s words, however, revealed plenty.
Her remarks are about more than one failed political decision. They are part of a broader effort by Democrats to distance themselves from the 2024 defeat without fully accepting responsibility for the system that produced it.
Biden did not make those choices in isolation.
Party leaders defended him. Donors bankrolled him. Media organizations shielded him. Democratic officials attacked critics who raised legitimate questions about his ability to serve.
Now that President Trump is back in the White House, the same political class that told voters not to believe their own eyes is trying to blame Biden alone.
That may be convenient. But it is not honest.
The Democratic Party’s 2024 collapse was not just the result of one aging president’s ambition. It was the result of an entire establishment that protected him until the truth became impossible to hide.
