Homan Suggests Possible Arrests for ‘Sanctuary City’ Leaders Shielding Illegal Immigrants
Tom Homan, former acting director of ICE and a prominent figure in border enforcement policy, hinted Thursday that leaders in so-called “sanctuary cities” might soon face arrest by federal immigration authorities for allegedly protecting undocumented immigrants.
Speaking to a reporter outside the White House, Homan was asked about President Donald Trump’s recent executive order aimed at cutting off federal funding to sanctuary jurisdictions. The reporter pressed, “Why not just arrest the leaders who are harboring and shielding illegal aliens — actually, terrorists — from deportation?”
With a brief pause and a knowing smile, Homan responded, “Wait ’til you see what’s coming.”

Homan has long made it clear that the Trump administration is committed to large-scale deportations and that individuals who assist undocumented immigrants in avoiding federal authorities could face legal consequences.
That warning gained new weight after two judges were arrested for allegedly helping illegal immigrants avoid arrest, something Homan said should not catch anyone off guard.
The recent developments involve Democratic judges in Wisconsin and New Mexico.
In Wisconsin, Milwaukee County Judge Hannah Dugan, 65, was taken into custody last Friday and charged with two felonies. She allegedly helped an undocumented Mexican immigrant, Eduardo Flores-Ruiz, avoid being detained by immigration agents.
“Specifically, the complaint says Dugan assisted Eduardo Flores-Ruiz, an undocumented Mexican immigrant, avoid being arrested by federal immigration officials at the Milwaukee County Courthouse after he appeared in her courtroom for a pretrial conference on April 18. Flores-Ruiz is facing three misdemeanor battery counts,” reported the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.
“Two federal agents eventually chased Flores-Ruiz down outside the courthouse and apprehended him at West State Street and North 10th Street downtown, according to the complaint,” the article added.

Meanwhile, in New Mexico, former Judge Joel Cano and his wife were also arrested. Authorities accuse the couple of harboring a suspected member of the Venezuelan Tren de Aragua gang, which, along with MS-13, has been designated a terrorist organization by Trump.
Investigators also allege the Canos provided the undocumented suspect with firearms, citing photographic evidence found in their possession.
In response to these cases, Homan posted a statement on social media asserting that judges are not exempt from the law.
“Nobody should be surprised by the arrest of two judges. I have said many times within the past few months, that people can choose to support illegal immigration and not assist ICE in removing criminal illegal aliens from our communities, BUT DON’T CROSS THAT LINE,” he wrote.

“If you actively impede our enforcement efforts or if you knowingly harbor or conceal illegal aliens from ICE you will be prosecuted. These actions are felonies. More to come…”
Florida’s Attorney General Pam Bondi also weighed in on Judge Dugan’s behavior, recounting how she reportedly lashed out at immigration agents during the courtroom incident.
“The judge screams at the immigration officers. She’s furious. Visibly shaken. Upset. Sends them off to talk to the chief judge,” Bondi told Fox News. “You can’t make this up.”
