Hunter Biden Forced To Drop Lawsuit Against Fox News
Hunter Biden has once again backed away from legal action against Fox News, abandoning a lawsuit that accused the network of airing sexually explicit images of him during a dramatized six-part series titled “The Trial of Hunter Biden.”
This marks the second time Biden has dropped a lawsuit over the miniseries, which first aired in October 2022 and was promoted as a fictionalized preview of what a Hunter Biden trial might look like. The first legal threat came in April 2024, prompting Fox Nation to remove the series from its streaming platform. Biden officially filed suit in July — only to quietly withdraw weeks later. He filed a new complaint in October, but on Friday, that case too was voluntarily dismissed.
Fox News celebrated the move, telling Mediaite, “We are pleased to move on now that Hunter Biden has finally voluntarily withdrawn this meritless case, which proved to be nothing more than a politically motivated stunt.”

View PlansThe lawsuit alleged Fox had violated New York’s Civil Rights Law Sec 52-b — a statute typically invoked in so-called “revenge porn” cases — by using explicit content to commercialize Biden’s image in a dramatized production not grounded in any real legal proceedings.
“Far from reporting on a newsworthy event, Fox sought to commercialize Mr. Biden’s personality through a form of treatment distinct from the dissemination of news or information. Indeed, the entire miniseries is fictionalized and based on a nonexistent criminal case,” the lawsuit read.
Yet even as Biden’s attorneys complained the show was unfair, they failed to explain why the case was dropped. Notably, the withdrawal came shortly after Biden lost a procedural motion to move the case from federal court to New York state court — a venue thought to be more favorable to his claims.
Fox had previously slammed the lawsuit as frivolous, stating: “This entirely politically motivated lawsuit is devoid of merit. The core complaint stems from a 2022 streaming program that Mr. Biden did not complain about until sending a letter in late April 2024... Hunter Biden is a public figure who has been the subject of multiple investigations and is now a convicted felon.”
The network also cited First Amendment protections for its programming, noting that coverage of Biden's legal troubles — which are numerous — is both accurate and newsworthy.
Fox explained its decision to pull the series as a temporary measure “out of an abundance of caution” while reviewing the matter internally.
Mounting Legal Losses and Financial Struggles
This legal retreat adds to Hunter Biden’s growing list of abandoned lawsuits and mounting legal woes. Just last month, Biden asked a federal judge in California to dismiss his 2023 lawsuit against former Trump aide Garrett Ziegler, citing financial hardship. The suit was related to the publication of data from the infamous “laptop from hell,” which has been a central piece of evidence in uncovering Biden’s shady foreign dealings.
In court filings, Biden’s attorneys blamed “significantly” reduced income and claimed the Pacific Palisades wildfires rendered his rental home “unlivable,” compounding his money problems. The lawsuit had alleged that Ziegler and his research group, Marco Polo, violated state and federal laws by compiling a searchable database of 128,000 emails allegedly belonging to Biden.

Biden’s legal troubles have only escalated under the presidency of Donald J. Trump. He has been found guilty on multiple federal counts — including tax evasion and lying on a federal firearms form. President Trump’s administration confirmed that Biden was recently pardoned for his gun conviction, just weeks ahead of his scheduled sentencing in December.
