Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) once again reminded Americans why she's gained a reputation as one of the most abrasive and unserious voices in Congress.

During a Wednesday House Judiciary Committee hearing, Crockett launched an unhinged tirade against First Lady Melania Trump, questioning the legitimacy of her EB-1 “Extraordinary Ability” visa — despite the fact that Melania followed the law to the letter and was fully qualified under federal immigration criteria.

Crockett mocked Melania’s modeling career with a smug tone more suited for a late-night sketch than a congressional hearing.

“Let me remind y’all that Melania, the first lady, a model — and when I say model I’m not talking about Tyra Banks, Cindy Crawford, or Naomi Campbell level — applied for and was given an EB-1 visa,” she sneered.

She then attempted to ridicule the so-called “Einstein visa” by misrepresenting its requirements and ignoring the clear record of Melania’s accomplishments.

“Now y’all that don’t know, let me tell you how your receive an Einstein visa. You’re supposed to have some sort of significant achievement like being awarded a Nobel Peace Prize or a Pulitzer, being an Olympic medalist or having other sustained extraordinary abilities... Last time I checked, the first lady had none of those accolades,” Crockett ranted.

The fact is, Melania Trump had an established international modeling career long before becoming First Lady. She was featured on the cover of British GQ and appeared in numerous high-profile fashion magazines across Europe and the United States — more than enough to satisfy the EB-1’s criteria for “sustained national or international acclaim” in the arts.

Crockett’s comments weren’t just inaccurate — they were dripping with contempt, not only for Melania Trump but for the legal immigration process itself. Ironically, the same Democrats who trip over themselves defending mass illegal immigration now turn around and attack a legal immigrant who followed every rule and contributed meaningfully to American society.

Former Trump attorney Michael Wildes defended Melania’s visa qualifications back in 2018, stating:

“Mrs. Trump obtained her Green Card legally and was more than amply qualified and solidly eligible for the Extraordinary Ability Green Card.”

And with 40,000 EB-1 visas granted annually, the idea that a world-recognized model with a successful career — who later became the First Lady of the United States — wouldn’t qualify is laughable.

The reality is, Crockett’s comments weren’t about immigration at all. They were about taking another cheap shot at President Donald J. Trump and his family. And in the process, she once again made a fool of herself.

But let’s entertain her claim just for a moment: if Melania’s immigration was indeed an exploitation of the system, wouldn’t Democrats celebrate that? After all, it’s the Left that has long advocated for “loopholes,” open borders, and blanket amnesty.

Instead, Crockett chose to vilify a woman who played by the rules — proving once again that Democrats don’t actually care about immigration law. They only care about scoring political points.
