JD, Usha Vance Announce Fourth Child On The Way

Vice President JD Vance and Second Lady Usha Vance announced Tuesday that they are expecting their fourth child, sharing the news publicly and confirming the baby will be a boy.

“Usha and the baby are doing well, and we are all looking forward to welcoming him in late July,” the Vances said in a joint statement shared on social media, Fox News reported.

“During this exciting and hectic time, we are particularly grateful for the military doctors who take excellent care of our family and for the staff members who do so much to ensure that we can serve the country while enjoying a wonderful life with our children,” the statement continued.

The White House amplified the announcement, retweeting the post with the message: “The most pro family administration in history! CONGRATULATIONS!”

A wave of congratulations followed from administration officials and Republican lawmakers. Interior Secretary Doug Burgum praised the couple and highlighted the administration’s family-centered priorities.

“Congratulations, @VP and @SLOTUS!” Burgum wrote. “There is no greater joy than being a parent. Honored to work for an administration that puts family first!”

Rep. Troy Nehls and Rep. Brandon Gill of Texas also offered public well-wishes, as did White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt.

“Congratulations to our great @VP and lovely @SLOTUS!” Leavitt wrote.

JD and Usha Vance met while attending Yale University Law School and were married in 2014. Before becoming Second Lady, Usha Vance clerked for Chief Justice John G. Roberts Jr. and Justice Brett Kavanaugh, later working as a litigator at the firm Munger, Tolles & Olson.

The Vances are already parents to three children — Ewan, Vivek, and Mirabel — who drew widespread attention last year after appearing at Inauguration Day events at the U.S. Capitol and during the parade at Capital One Arena in Washington.

The announcement comes as the White House also confirmed that Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt is expecting a baby girl. Leavitt and her husband, Nick, are preparing to welcome their second child in May 2026. The couple’s first child, a son named Niko, was born in July 2024, Fox News reported.

“My husband and I are thrilled to grow our family and can’t wait to watch our son become a big brother,” Leavitt told Fox News Digital.

“My heart is overflowing with gratitude to God for the blessing of motherhood, which I truly believe is the closest thing to Heaven on Earth,” she said.

Leavitt credited President Donald J. Trump and senior White House leadership for fostering a supportive environment for working parents.

“I am extremely grateful to President Trump and our amazing Chief of Staff Susie Wiles for their support, and for fostering a pro family environment in the White House,” Leavitt said.

“Nearly all of my West Wing colleagues have babies and young children, so we all really support one another as we tackle raising our families while working for the greatest president ever,” she added.

Looking ahead, Leavitt said she is optimistic about both her personal life and the administration’s future.

“2026 is going to be an amazing year for the President and our country, and personally, I am beyond excited to become a girl mom,” she said.

A senior White House official confirmed to Fox News Digital that Leavitt will remain in her role as press secretary. She is set to become the first pregnant White House press secretary in U.S. history and has no plans to step aside.

The announcements underscore the Trump administration’s emphasis on family, faith, and work-life balance — themes officials have increasingly highlighted during the president’s second term.
