Johnson Calls Trump’s BBB ‘Most Conservative Legislation We’ve Ever Worked On’

House Speaker Mike Johnson is rallying behind President Donald J. Trump’s One Big Beautiful Bill, calling it the most conservative, transformative legislation ever crafted by Congress — a direct blueprint for restoring American strength, prosperity, and liberty.

In a sit-down interview with Fox News host Sean Hannity, Johnson described the sweeping legislation as a product of months of tireless work by House Republicans to fulfill the mandate voters delivered in November — a mandate to finally put America First and rein in Washington’s bloated bureaucracy.

“85 to 90% of this bill is the House-generated product,” Johnson explained. “The Senate made some modifications to it. They made it more conservative in some places and moderated it a little bit in others. But I’ll tell you what, as the President said so well today, this is no longer just a House bill, it’s not a Senate bill — it’s the bill of the hardworking American people.”

And that bill is on track to be delivered by Independence Day — a symbolic deadline for a policy revolution.

“We got a clear mandate from the people in November to do this,” Johnson said. “President Trump ran on a clear set of priorities and promises, and we did as well. And this is the vehicle to deliver it.”

According to Johnson, the legislation — dubbed One Big Beautiful Bill by Trump himself — includes historic tax cuts, deep spending reductions, and sweeping regulatory rollbacks. The Speaker confirmed that the plan will save taxpayers $1.6 trillion, shrink the size and scope of the federal government, and restore work incentives to safeguard welfare for the truly vulnerable.

“We’re at the one-yard line in this game that’s been played over a year,” he said. “We worked on this for about 14 months to get us to this point. We’re going to run it right up the middle and score for the American people.”

At the heart of the legislation is a common-sense reform to Medicaid, reintroducing work requirements to ensure that only those in genuine need receive benefits.

“If you’re a young able-bodied man, you should be helping to pull the wagon, not riding it,” Johnson said. “We have this very popular provision that says if you’re going to receive Medicaid, you’ve got to show that you’re working or at least looking for a job or volunteering in your community for 20 hours a week.”

He emphasized the fairness and popularity of the proposal:

“It should be much more, but that is a minimal requirement that will reduce a lot of the abuse of the program and shore it up for the people that need it the most.”

On the economic front, Johnson promised “jet fuel” for the economy — echoing the boom Americans experienced under Trump’s first term.

“Remember the first two years of the Trump administration. We brought about the greatest economy in the history of the world, prior to COVID,” he said. “Literally every demographic in the country and every region was doing better because we had reduced taxes and reduced regulations. We’re going to do that again — this time with this bill on steroids.”

The impact, Johnson said, will be felt across every household.

“We’re estimating the average American will have an additional $10,000 in take-home pay because of this,” he revealed. “You will have no taxes on your tips and on your overtime. Seniors will get a reduction in taxes because of a credit they’ll have on Social Security.”

He concluded with confidence:

“There’s something in this bill, literally, as the President said today, for everyone. It is great policy and is going to help the economy, help the American people, and fulfill the promises of the America First agenda.”

With President Trump in the White House and Republicans delivering in Congress, the One Big Beautiful Bill may very well be the cornerstone of the second Trump Revolution — one aimed at restoring freedom, rebuilding prosperity, and making Washington work for the people again.
