Obama Urges Public To Call Representatives To Vote Against Trump BBB
As President Donald J. Trump’s landmark $3.3 trillion One Big Beautiful Bill surges toward final passage in the House, former President Barack Obama is attempting a last-ditch effort to remain politically relevant — this time by urging Americans to oppose the most consequential conservative legislation in decades.
In a tone-deaf post on X (formerly Twitter), Obama parroted tired Democrat talking points, claiming Trump’s America First package would harm working-class families by reducing Medicaid spending and altering parts of his signature law, the Affordable Care Act.
“More than 16 million Americans are at risk of losing their health care because Republicans in Congress are rushing to pass a bill that would cut federal funding for Medicaid and weaken the Affordable Care Act,” Obama claimed. “Call your representative today and tell them to vote no on this bill.”

Still, Democrat leadership isn’t going down quietly.
House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, D-N.Y., is now personally leading a desperate delay effort on the House floor. Just minutes before 5 a.m. Thursday, Jeffries seized the chamber with an obscure procedural tactic known as the “magic minute,” which allows party leaders to speak as long as they want — even for hours on end — in a purely symbolic protest.
According to Fox News Digital, Jeffries arrived armed with multiple binders of scripted remarks. One GOP member estimated he read from a single binder for nearly three hours — suggesting Democrats are prepared to drag the clock into the afternoon.
But make no mistake: Jeffries and his allies have no real power to stop the bill.
Thursday morning's early House vote on the rule for debate passed narrowly, 219 to 213, marking a major procedural victory for Speaker Johnson and the Trump White House. Despite rumblings from a few moderate Republicans, only Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick, R-Pa., broke ranks.
The final floor vote on the bill itself could happen any time after Jeffries yields the floor — likely Thursday afternoon.
The legislation has faced internal tensions on the right as well. A handful of members from the House Freedom Caucus initially threatened to oppose the compromise provisions — but, according to insider reports, President Trump personally helped negotiate their support, convincing them of the bill’s unparalleled conservative wins.
The legislation, passed narrowly by the House in late May and recently approved by the Senate, is being advanced through budget reconciliation — a powerful tool that blocks Democrat obstruction and allows Republicans to bypass the filibuster.
The final version includes provisions that slash federal spending, restore Medicaid work requirements, permanently cut taxes, and supercharge the U.S. economy. It also includes Trump’s key America First priorities: stronger borders, robust military funding, and relief for working Americans — including no taxes on tips or overtime, and increased take-home pay across the board.
Trump made clear in a fiery Truth Social post this week that this bill is more than legislation — it’s a mandate from the American people.
“It is no longer a ‘House Bill’ or a ‘Senate Bill.’ It is everyone’s Bill,” Trump wrote. “There is so much to be proud of, and EVERYONE got a major Policy WIN — But, the Biggest Winner of them all will be the American People…”
He continued:
“We can have all of this right now, but only if the House GOP UNITES, ignores its occasional ‘GRANDSTANDERS (You know who you are!),’ and does the right thing… The American People need and deserve it. They sent us here to, GET IT DONE.”

View PlansSpeaker Johnson echoed that sentiment earlier this week, calling the legislation “the most conservative piece of legislation we’ve ever worked on” and noting it will save $1.6 trillion while cutting government waste and ensuring programs like Medicaid are protected for those who truly need them.
As the clock ticks down and Democrats burn daylight with futile delay tactics, House Republicans stand poised to deliver President Trump’s most ambitious policy win yet — a sweeping, historic rebuke of Biden-era dysfunction, and the first major step in restoring true America First governance.
