Kamala Harris Lashes Out At Trump Over Iran Attack

Former Vice President and failed 2024 Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris lashed out at President Donald J. Trump on Saturday, accusing him of dragging the nation toward war even as U.S. forces carried out high-stakes operations targeting the Iranian regime’s leadership.

In a lengthy social media statement, Harris declared:

“Donald Trump is dragging the United States into a war the American people do not want. Let me be clear: I am opposed to a regime-change war in Iran, and our troops are being put in harm’s way for the sake of Trump’s war of choice,” Harris said.

Her criticism came just hours after President Trump confirmed that Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei had been killed during coordinated U.S.-Israeli strikes aimed at dismantling the regime’s command structure.

Posting to Truth Social, Trump wrote:

Khamenei, one of the most evil people in History, is dead. This is not only Justice for the people of Iran, but for all Great Americans, and those people from many Countries throughout the World, that have been killed or mutilated by Khamenei and his gang of bloodthirsty THUGS. He was unable to avoid our Intelligence and Highly Sophisticated Tracking Systems and, working closely with Israel, there was not a thing he, or the other leaders that have been killed along with him, could do. This is the single greatest chance for the Iranian people to take back their Country.

We are hearing that many of their IRGC, Military, and other Security and Police Forces, no longer want to fight, and are looking for Immunity from us. As I said last night, “Now they can have Immunity, later they only get Death!” Hopefully, the IRGC and Police will peacefully merge with the Iranian Patriots, and work together as a unit to bring back the Country to the Greatness it deserves. That process should soon be starting in that, not only the death of Khamenei but the Country has been, in only one day, very much destroyed and, even, obliterated. The heavy and pinpoint bombing, however, will continue, uninterrupted throughout the week or, as long as necessary to achieve our objective of PEACE THROUGHOUT THE MIDDLE EAST AND, INDEED, THE WORLD!

Despite Harris’ claims, President Trump has not signaled any intention of launching a prolonged ground war or open-ended occupation. Instead, administration officials have framed the strikes as decisive, targeted actions designed to neutralize threats and restore deterrence in a volatile region.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio underscored the broader strategic implications during remarks to reporters Saturday, arguing that the global order is undergoing dramatic change.

“The world is changing very fast right in front of us,” Rubio said. “The old world is gone, frankly, the world I grew up in, and we live in a new era of geopolitics, and it’s gonna require all of us to sort of reexamine what that looks like and what our role is going to be.”

He continued, “We’ve had many of these conversations in private with many of our allies. We need to continue to have those conversations.”

The message was clear: the United States, under President Trump’s second term, intends to lead from a position of strength — and expects its allies to recognize the shifting geopolitical landscape.

Meanwhile, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt addressed concerns from critics who questioned whether the president had acted without properly notifying Congress.

“President Trump monitored the situation overnight at Mar a Lago alongside members of his national security team. The President spoke with Prime Minister Netanyahu by phone,” Leavitt wrote on X.

“Prior to the attacks, Secretary Rubio called all members of the gang of eight to provide congressional notification, and he was able to reach and brief seven of the eight members,” she added.

“The President and his national security team will continue to closely monitor the situation throughout the day.”

The so-called “Gang of Eight” includes the Senate and House majority and minority leaders, along with the chairs and ranking members of the House and Senate intelligence committees — the very lawmakers traditionally briefed on sensitive national security operations.

As Democrats rush to frame the operation as reckless escalation, the administration is emphasizing constitutional authority, congressional notification, and a clear objective: dismantling hostile threats and advancing what President Trump describes as “peace throughout the Middle East and, indeed, the world.”
