Karmelo Anthony Raises Eye-Watering Amount of Cash Online in Startling Twist to Murder Case
In a shocking contradiction to the old saying that “crime doesn’t pay,” a fundraising campaign for Karmelo Anthony — a teenager charged with murder — has surpassed its original $100,000 goal, prompting his parents to appeal for even more financial support from the public.
The controversial move has triggered widespread outrage on social media, where many X users voiced their disgust over what they see as Anthony being “rewarded for killing someone.”

The tragic event took place last Wednesday when 17-year-old Anthony fatally stabbed fellow 17-year-old Austin Metcalf during a confrontation at a regional high school track event in Frisco, Texas.

Anthony was enrolled at Centennial High School, while Metcalf was a student at Memorial High School.
According to Metcalf’s father, Jeff Metcalf, the conflict began when Anthony sat under a tent designated for Memorial High students. The tents had been set up due to weather delays at the meet.
After Metcalf asked Anthony to move, an argument broke out between the teens. The altercation quickly escalated, ending when Anthony pulled a knife from his bag and stabbed Metcalf in the chest.
Jeff Metcalf told Fox News that his son died in the arms of his twin brother, Hunter.
Anthony later admitted to the stabbing but claimed it was an act of self-defense.
On their donation page, Anthony’s parents argued that the media “narrative being spread is false, unjust, and harmful.”
Once the initial $100,000 goal was reached, the family increased their fundraising target to $200,000 — a move many viewed as opportunistic.

Over $144,000 has been raised, with his family claiming a “false” and “harmful” narrative is being spread about… pic.twitter.com/AJMNKrRvRJ
As of Monday morning, donations had exceeded $155,000.
Critics on X noted that had the racial dynamics been reversed, the national media response would likely be far more intense.
This man should be alive right now

And if the races were reversed, it would be a national story, and cities would be on fire

How sick our society has become. What moron would donate to a blatant murderer.

Karmelo Anthony did not kill Austin Metcalf because he was white. However, Karmelo Anthony's race played a significant role in the killing of Austin Metcalf. It wasn't a race-hate murder. It was a "black culture" murder, the same crime black boys suffer daily. "Black culture"…

Will anybody in media talk about Austin Metcalf the way they talked about George Floyd? What’s more of a tragedy, a criminal overdosing on fentanyl, or a Christian, high-school, straight-A athlete murdered at a track meet? pic.twitter.com/5J6v3B32ta

GOP commentator CJ Pearson posted, “The same people who sought to make George Floyd a hero are now trying to make Karmelo Anthony — a murderer — a victim.”
The blind tribalism in the black community must end.

The same people who sought to make George Floyd a hero are now trying to make Karmelo Anthony - a murderer - a victim.
My prayers are with the family of Austin Metcalf. pic.twitter.com/9dv4cz4Xua
The continued glamorization of the radical Black Lives Matter movement, Pearson and others argue, has led to an environment where lawlessness is tolerated and even encouraged.
BLM’s influence, they claim, has resulted in significant shifts in policing that contributed to rising crime, including:
- Police departments scaling back enforcement;
- Restrictions limiting officers’ ability to pursue suspects;
- Lenient policies such as no-bail laws and the decriminalization of theft.
The nation, still grappling with the aftermath of BLM-related unrest, is witnessing a decline in public safety while emboldened criminals thrive.
Unless these cultural trends are reversed, many fear that the decline of American — and broader Western — civilization will continue unabated.
