Leftist Group Warns Dem Lawmakers Against Using List of 45 Words - It Won't Be Easy for Them

Democrats have a language problem — and a much bigger attitude problem they refuse to fix.

On Friday, the center-left think tank Third Way released a memo begging Democrats to stop sounding like smug campus activists and start speaking like real Americans. The document flagged 45 words and phrases that make Democrats sound like, in Third Way’s own words, people “no ordinary person would ever dream of saying.”

The memo sorted the cringiest examples into six categories. Under “therapy-speak,” the banned list included terms like privilege, othering, microaggression and safe space. In the category of “gender/orientation correctness,” it flagged pregnant people, cisgender, deadnaming and patriarchy as major turn-offs for normal voters.

Matt Bennett, Third Way’s executive vice president of public affairs, admitted the obvious to Politico:

“We are doing our best to get Democrats to talk like normal people and stop talking like they’re leading a seminar at Antioch.”

That’s one way to put it. For years, Democrats have sounded more like radical academics than public servants, and Third Way knows it’s costing them votes. But the memo only scratches the surface.

The real problem isn’t just the words Democrats use — it’s the contempt behind them. The modern Democratic Party openly sneers at the values, traditions, and faith of ordinary Americans. They push authoritarian policies, censor dissent, and weaponize government against their opponents — behavior they’ve only escalated since President Donald Trump’s rise to power exposed how far left they’ve drifted.

And here’s the ultimate irony: even while admitting their rhetoric turns people off, the Third Way memo still can’t help lecturing Democrats on what approved words they should use — as if swapping “pregnant people” for “expectant moms” will fix their image problem. Voters aren’t fooled.

Notice what’s missing from the memo, too: the constant slur “Nazi,” which Democrats have lobbed at Trump supporters for nearly a decade. As long as they smear half the country and invert the truth about who they are and who Trump is, they’ll remain insufferable authoritarians — and Americans will see right through the cosmetic language change.
