Leftists Melt Down as NFL Draft Begins with a 'Message' from Trump

Thursday night marked the beginning of the NFL Draft, held in Green Bay, Wisconsin — the proud home of the Packers. To kick off the much-anticipated event, former Packers linebacker and fan favorite Clay Matthews delivered a lighthearted message, allegedly straight from former President Donald Trump.

“I just got off the phone with the president, Donald Trump. He asked me to pass a message along to all 32 NFL franchises,” Matthews said to the crowd, unfolding a slip of paper in his hands.

“It says, ‘My fellow Americans, the Bears still suck!’” he shouted, triggering a wave of cheers and laughter from the audience.

While the joke may have sounded like something Trump would actually say, it was clearly just that — a joke. Matthews was poking fun at a rival team, not delivering an official statement.

Still, those with a bad case of Trump Derangement Syndrome (TDS), especially among NFL fans, couldn’t help but take offense. They quickly jumped on social media platform X to share their outrage.

One user posted, “Trump literally ruins everything. Now even the NFL Draft.”

Another added, “Looking forward to the draft, but hearing Trump’s name was nauseating. He ruins everything.”

A third chimed in, labeling Matthews “a tool,” and calling the joke a “Common Packers L.”

One particularly upset user even believed the joke was serious, posting, “Already bringing politics into the draft. Nobody cares what Trump says Clay Matthews.”

This playful moment highlighted just how far the Overton Window has shifted.

A few years ago, a stunt like this would likely have prompted a response from the league, perhaps condemning the comment as “distasteful” or not reflective of the NFL’s “inclusive values.”

Today, however, most fans can laugh it off and enjoy the moment.

But for those still gripped by TDS, the mention of Trump’s name remains a trigger.

It’s puzzling that anyone would be shocked — especially considering Trump has been spotted at several games during his campaign and even attended the Super Bowl.

No, he’s not angling to become the league’s next commissioner, but for longtime football fans, he’s hardly an unfamiliar face.

Still, for some, just hearing the name “Trump” is enough to spark outrage — a reminder that Trump Derangement Syndrome hasn’t gone anywhere.
