Mainstream Media Finally Covers Unprovoked Murder of Iryna Zarutska but Adds a Disgusting Spin

The line between journalism and left-wing activism vanished long ago. But the establishment media’s handling of the horrific murder of 23-year-old Iryna Zarutska marks a new low.

While the same “journalists” who sanctified George Floyd in 2020 treated him as a martyr, they ignored Zarutska — a Ukrainian refugee brutally stabbed to death by a career criminal aboard a Charlotte, North Carolina, train. Only after the video of her murder circulated widely on X did the media acknowledge the crime — and even then, they did so only to frame it as a problem for conservatives.

“Stabbing video fuels MAGA’s crime message,” Axios declared, making clear that the real story, in their eyes, wasn’t Zarutska’s murder but the fact that conservatives were talking about it.

According to WCNC Charlotte, the suspect, Decarlos Brown Jr., a black man with 14 prior court cases, should never have been walking free. His record includes convictions for robbery with a dangerous weapon, breaking and entering, larceny, and a six-year prison sentence.

CNN reported that Zarutska entered the light rail car just before 10 p.m. on Aug. 22, sitting directly in front of Brown. A police affidavit later described the calculated attack:

“The train travels for approximately four and half minutes before the suspect pulls knife from his pocket, unfolds the knife, pauses, then stands up, and strikes at the victim three times.”

This wasn’t a crime of passion. It was a cold, deliberate act — committed by a man who never should have been allowed back into society.

Yet for more than two weeks, the corporate press looked the other way. Why? Because the crime undermines the Democratic Party’s soft-on-crime agenda and bolsters President Donald Trump’s call for a national crackdown. Trump has already taken decisive action in Washington, D.C., deploying the National Guard to restore order, and he has vowed to do the same in other Democrat-run cities drowning in violence.

Covering Zarutska’s death honestly would have strengthened Trump’s hand. Instead, when coverage finally came, outlets like Axios minimized it with language carefully crafted to shift blame onto conservatives:

“The gruesome video of the fatal knife attack on Iryna Zarutska on a light-rail car in Charlotte is drawing attention from MAGA influencers seeking to elevate the issue of violent urban crime — and accuse mainstream media of under-covering shocking cases.”

Notice the sleight of hand. The narrative becomes not about violent crime, but about “MAGA influencers” daring to talk about it. In other words, without conservatives drawing attention to these stories, the media would happily bury them forever.

X users weren’t fooled. Many contrasted the press’ silence on Zarutska’s murder with its obsessive coverage of Floyd’s death in 2020. Others pointed out the obvious racial double standard — when the narrative doesn’t fit the Left’s agenda, the media turns away.

As conservatives know, crime has no color. The real issue is keeping predators like Brown off the streets. That’s exactly what President Trump is fighting to do — and exactly what Democrats refuse to do.

The establishment media, as always, exists to protect the Democratic Party, even at the expense of public safety. The question is whether they actually believe Americans haven’t noticed.
