Media Hypocrisy on Display: CNN Pundit Claims Trump ‘Wants Us Dead’ Moments Before Assassination Attempt at Correspondents' Dinner

The legacy media’s double standards regarding political rhetoric have reached a staggering new low. For years, the left-wing press has meticulously scrutinized every syllable uttered by President Donald J. Trump, often twisting metaphors into literal threats. Yet, in a chilling display of irony, a CNN contributor labeled the President "a guy who wants us dead" just thirty minutes before a radical assailant attempted to storm the White House Correspondents’ Dinner with lethal intent.

On Saturday evening, the festive atmosphere at the Washington Hilton was shattered when 31-year-old Cole Tomas Allen breached the security perimeter. Rushing past the Secret Service toward the ballroom where President Trump was set to appear, Allen—who was heavily armed—opened fire, striking a law enforcement officer.

While the officer was fortunately saved by a bulletproof vest and is expected to make a full recovery, the incident serves as a grim reminder of the rising tide of political violence directed at the current administration.

Footage of the suspect being neutralized and taken into custody quickly flooded social media, highlighting the bravery of those standing on the front lines to protect our Commander-in-Chief.

Early investigations into Allen’s background reveal a predictable pattern. His donation history and social media presence indicate a man deeply entrenched in left-wing radicalism and anti-Trump vitriol. While the mainstream media often feigns ignorance regarding the motives of such attackers, the correlation between inflammatory rhetoric and real-world violence is becoming impossible to ignore.

In a moment of catastrophic timing, CNN’s S.E. Cupp—a "NeverTrump" commentator known for her disdain for the President’s America First agenda—was on air shortly before the shooting, lamenting the press corps' attempt to engage with the administration. According to a CNN transcript, Cupp was "real bummed, real bummed" about the evening’s proceedings.

She then issued a statement that has aged with incredible speed:

“And you just heard Brian Stelter say that the Correspondents’ Association was trying to sort of mend some fences with a guy who wants us dead — figuratively, figuratively,” Cupp was quick to add. “He wants journalism dead.”

The irony is as thick as it is dangerous. The same media apparatus that spent 2024 perpetuating the "bloodbath" hoax—maliciously taking President Trump’s comments about the auto industry out of context to suggest he was calling for a national uprising—is now using the language of death against him while an actual gunman stalks his events.

In March 2024, the President warned that the failure to protect American car manufacturing would result in a "bloodbath" for the industry. CNN and the Biden campaign weaponized that metaphor, with Biden spokesperson James Singer claiming:

“This is who Donald Trump is: a loser who gets beat by over 7 million votes and then instead of appealing to a wider mainstream audience doubles down on his threats of political violence,” Biden campaign spokesperson James Singer said in a statement Saturday evening.

The left’s refusal to grant the President the same "metaphorical grace" they afford their own pundits is a hallmark of their operation. After surviving multiple assassination attempts during his 2024 campaign, President Trump continues to face a media environment that uses violent imagery while simultaneously clutching its pearls at his defense of American sovereignty.

As the investigation into Cole Tomas Allen continues, the American public is left to wonder: when will the legacy media take responsibility for the climate of hostility they have spent years cultivating?
