Most Voters Back Impeaching Anti-Trump Judge Over ‘Arctic Frost’ Scandal
A growing majority of Americans say they want Judge James Boasberg impeached amid revelations that the Biden Justice Department’s “Arctic Frost” operation secretly spied on Republican lawmakers and conservative organizations.
According to a Rasmussen Reports survey, 67% of likely voters view “Arctic Frost” as a serious scandal — with 43% calling it ‘very serious.’ Just 26% dismissed the controversy, including 12% who said it is “not at all serious,” Just the News reported.
The poll arrives as House Republicans prepare to make Boasberg the first impeached federal judge since 2010. Historically, only 15 judges have ever been impeached by the House — and just eight removed by the Senate.
Boasberg, an Obama appointee who now serves as chief judge for the U.S. District Court in Washington, D.C., faces mounting calls for removal after reports showed he and Judge Beryl Howell issued non-disclosure orders shielding nearly 200 subpoenas under former Special Counsel Jack Smith.
Those subpoenas allegedly targeted Republican donors, staffers, lawmakers, and political organizations, allowing federal investigators to collect data from telecom companies — all without notifying the affected parties.
“Radical activist judge James Boasberg continues to weaponize his judicial authority and target his political opponents,” said Rep. Brandon Gill (R-Texas), who announced he is drafting articles of impeachment. “Judge Boasberg facilitated the egregious Arctic Frost scandal, where he equipped the Biden DOJ to spy on Republican senators. His lack of integrity makes him clearly unfit for the gavel.”
Rep. Byron Donalds (R-Fla.) also indicated he would support impeachment proceedings.
According to The National Pulse, Smith’s “Arctic Frost” probe involved 197 subpoenas affecting more than 430 Republican groups and individuals. Senator Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) denounced the effort as a “fishing expedition” aimed at dismantling the GOP’s political infrastructure.
The subpoenas reportedly sought financial records, communications, and donor data from Trump-aligned political action committees and consulting firms. The Biden DOJ allegedly explored potential RICO (racketeering) charges to strengthen its criminal cases against President Trump and his allies.
Critics say this represents yet another chapter in the Biden administration’s weaponization of the federal government — this time through the courts.
This is not Boasberg’s first controversial decision. Earlier this year, he blocked President Trump from using the Alien Enemies Act of 1798 to deport suspected members of the Venezuelan gang “Tren de Aragua.” Boasberg even ordered government planes already en route to El Salvador to turn back and return the alleged gang members to U.S. soil.
Conservatives say that ruling — along with his cooperation in the Arctic Frost investigation — reveals a judge who places political ideology above the law.
“Maybe firing such a judge could be the answer,” said Rep. Andy Biggs (R-Ariz.), who has introduced a resolution to remove Boasberg under Article III, Section 1 of the Constitution. “It would send a message to every other judge who thinks they can twist the law to attack a political adversary.”
Biggs noted that while most Americans believe federal judges have lifetime appointments, the Constitution only allows judges to serve “during good behavior.”
With nearly seven in ten voters viewing “Arctic Frost” as a serious scandal, the public appetite for accountability is surging. Boasberg’s name has become a rallying cry among conservatives who see his conduct as emblematic of the deep-state judicial bias that has undermined trust in the justice system.
If Republicans move forward, Boasberg could soon become the first federal judge in over a decade to face impeachment — and the first ever to be removed for aiding what critics call a politically motivated surveillance campaign against Americans.
