MTG Warns GOP Leadership: If I’m Frustrated, So Is the Base

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) voiced sharp criticism over the GOP’s current direction, warning that she speaks for the Republican base — and they’re growing increasingly disillusioned.

During recent comments reported by Fox News, Greene expressed concern that unless Republicans start delivering tangible results, they risk losing the movement’s momentum — especially with President Donald Trump not appearing on future ballots.

“I represent the base and when I’m frustrated and upset over the direction of things, you better be clear, the base is not happy,” Greene said. “When you are losing MTG, you are losing the base. And Trump isn’t on the ballot in the future, so do the math on that.”

Greene reiterated her longstanding opposition to foreign entanglements, calling out recent tensions involving Iran.

“I campaigned for no more foreign wars. And now we are supposedly on the verge of going to war with Iran,” she said. “I don’t think we should be bombing foreign countries on behalf of other foreign countries especially when they have their own nuclear weapons and massive military strength.”

She also took issue with a new minerals partnership between the U.S. and Ukraine that was recently announced by the Trump administration. The agreement establishes a fund to collect 50% of royalties, license fees, and other payments from Ukrainian natural resource projects.

Ukrainian official Yulia Svyrydenko explained that the fund will only include revenue from newly issued licenses and will be supported by direct U.S. contributions, including potential assistance like air defense systems.

Greene didn’t hold back in her response on X (formerly Twitter):
“Why on earth would we go over and occupy Ukraine and spend an untold amount of future American taxpayer dollars defending and mining their minerals as well as potentially putting American lives at risk and future war?” she wrote.
“Why don’t we just mine our own rare earth minerals that are tied up on federal lands that the government confiscated years ago?”

Meanwhile, President Trump’s approval rating is seeing a boost despite pushback from both Democrats and some Republicans over his sweeping trade policy changes.

A recent J.L. Partners poll conducted for the Daily Mail found Trump’s approval rating had climbed to 53%, up four points from 49% the previous week.

Among younger voters aged 18–29, Trump saw a massive 13-point gain in support since March 7, continuing a trend that began in the last election when that demographic swung 10 points in his favor after strongly supporting Biden in 2020.

Trump’s favorability also rose by six points among Democrats and independents, and he saw a 17-point increase among Black voters in just the past week.

Nearly 100 days into his return to the White House, Trump is earning positive reviews from business leaders and employers, especially for his economic agenda.

“I would give President Trump, right now, a pretty solid B+,” said TaChelle Lawson, founder of FIG Strategy & Consulting and contributor to the Freedom Economy Index, during an interview with Fox News Digital.

“He came in with a very clear plan, and that was focusing on economics. He’s definitely putting business first, trimming the fat,” Lawson said. “That’s something that small business owners, business operators understand and respect. I think that it’s clear that his focus is on American business.”
Still, she added, “I do, however, think that the messaging could use a little bit of work.”
