Musk Adds New Business Venture To His List of Companies

Billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk is once again breaking new ground—this time, not in space or AI, but in Hollywood’s restaurant scene. The former unofficial head of President Donald J. Trump’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) is preparing to unveil his latest venture: a retro-inspired Tesla diner, slated to open soon at the corner of Santa Monica Boulevard and Orange Drive in Los Angeles.

The innovative eatery—first teased by Musk in a 2018 tweet envisioning a “‘50s-style drive-in, roller skates & rock” concept—is now a tangible reality, with construction completed and final interior work underway. The Tesla-themed diner will offer American classics with a nostalgic twist, including burgers, fries, hand-spun milkshakes, and outdoor rooftop seating, complete with large drive-in movie screens lining the property.

Celebrity chef Eric Greenspan has reportedly been tapped to design the menu. Though he hasn’t commented publicly, Greenspan’s involvement signals a serious culinary commitment to the project.

Despite the buzz, some in the liberal Los Angeles dining scene have expressed reluctance to join the venture. Local restaurateurs reportedly declined participation, citing regulatory hurdles such as a missing liquor license—though many observers believe it has more to do with Musk’s unapologetic patriotism and close affiliation with President Trump.

Legendary restaurateur Bill Chait’s hospitality group Zero2One is expected to operate the diner, though an official opening date has not yet been announced.

The Tesla Diner is more than just a novel restaurant—it’s also a prototype for a potential nationwide rollout of deluxe Tesla Supercharger stations. These high-end hubs aim to transform the EV charging experience into a retro-infused leisure destination, aligning perfectly with Musk’s reputation for futuristic disruption grounded in old-school charm.

Musk's return to private-sector innovation comes just as he concludes his impactful stint at DOGE, the Department of Government Efficiency, where he worked alongside President Trump to root out waste, fraud, and bloated bureaucracy from the federal system.

Speaking from the Oval Office on Friday, Musk reflected on his time in government service during a meeting with President Trump, who praised the tech icon’s tireless efforts.

“Nobody liked him, and he had to go through the slings and the arrows, which is a shame because he’s an incredible patriot,” President Trump said. “The good news is that 90% of the country knows that and they appreciate it, and they really appreciate what he did.”

Musk responded with humility and determination, saying, “This is not the end of DOGE, but really the beginning.”

“My time as a special government employee necessarily had to end. It was a limited-time thing—134 days, I believe. But the DOGE team will only grow stronger over time. The DOGE influence will only grow stronger,” he said.

Comparing the department to a philosophical movement, Musk stated, “I liken it to a sort of Buddhism. It’s like a way of life… I’m confident that over time we’ll see $1 trillion of savings and a reduction in $1 trillion of waste and fraud.”

The results speak for themselves. According to Musk, DOGE has already identified over $160 billion in savings for the FY25–FY26 period, a figure expected to climb above $200 billion soon.

President Trump capped off the meeting by awarding Musk a “gold key to the White House,” symbolizing his ongoing advisory role and lasting impact.

Musk, visibly moved, looked around the Oval Office and said, “Isn’t this incredible? Like, this is incredible. I mean—it’s stunning. I think the way that the Oval Office—how the president has just completely redone the Oval Office—it’s beautiful.”

With one foot still planted in policy and the other boldly stepping into his latest business venture, Elon Musk continues to prove that he’s not just building rockets or cars—he’s building America back, one idea at a time.
