New Poll Reveals Most Popular Member Of Trump’s Cabinet

The tariffs introduced by President Donald Trump have unexpectedly elevated a new standout figure within his administration.

Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent has surged in popularity, emerging as the top-rated Cabinet member in a recent survey with a +14 net approval rating. This places him comfortably ahead of other prominent figures, including Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., and Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard, who are tied at +8, according to a J.L. Partners poll.

Bessent isn’t the only one benefiting from a boost in public perception. President Trump himself has seen his approval numbers climb to near-record highs, despite widespread criticism from Democrats, traditional Republicans, and much of the mainstream media regarding his bold trade policies.

A separate survey by J.L. Partners, conducted alongside the Daily Mail and polling 1,000 registered voters from March 31 to April 3, found that Trump’s approval rating rose even after the sweeping tariffs were announced on April 2.

The poll showed Trump’s approval climbing to 53 percent—a notable four-point jump from the previous week’s 49 percent. The Daily Mail described the result as “surprising” in light of recent market turbulence and intense political pushback.

Delving deeper into the demographics, support among voters aged 18 to 29 has jumped by an impressive 13 points since March 7. The data suggests Trump is capitalizing on gains made during the last election, where this age group shifted 10 points in his favor after previously leaning heavily toward Joe Biden in 2020.

The study also revealed Trump made gains with traditionally less supportive groups—his favorability among Democrats and independents rose six percentage points, while support from black voters surged by 17 points compared to the prior week’s figures.

As Trump approaches the 100-day milestone of his presidency, American employers and job market leaders are expressing optimism, stating they believe the economy “can win now,” even if it hasn’t “started to win yet.”

“I would give President Trump, right now, a pretty solid B+,” said TaChelle Lawson, founder of FIG Strategy & Consulting and a respondent to the Freedom Economy Index (FEI), in an interview with Fox News Digital.

“He came in with a very clear plan, and that was focusing on economics. He’s definitely putting business first, trimming the fat. That’s something that small business owners, business operators understand and respect. I think that it’s clear that his focus is on American business,” she explained. “I do, however, think that the messaging could use a little bit of work.”

Lawson was one of more than 50,000 small business owners who participated in the most recent quarterly poll from RedBalloon and PublicSquare. That survey found over two-thirds of participants now anticipate either “slow” or “robust” growth in the coming months—marking a sharp shift from prior pessimistic projections, Fox Business reported.

RedBalloon CEO Andrew Crapuchettes also told Fox, “What we’re seeing right now is we have a very sick economy, and it needs some very strong medicine. And if it gets that medicine, we all feel like we have a very strong economy that will win and will actually be a huge blessing to the entire world.”

He continued, “Because when the U.S. economy is strong, when small businesses in the U.S. economy are strong, we feel like we can have a disproportionate and positive impact on the entire planet. There’s a lot of good work that’s being done, but that work still needs to be done for the economy to actually get better.”

Michael Seifert, CEO of PublicSquare, added, “These small businesses are now feeling like we’re coming up on the 100-day mark of Trump’s presidency. They love the fact that one of the things that President Trump and this administration more broadly is tackling is the overregulation, the red tape seeded in bureaucracy that seeks to stifle business growth.”
