Notorious Melania Hater Allegedly Stepping Down: Could First Lady Get Overdue Honor?
First Lady Melania Trump has long been a target of the left’s venom — not for anything she’s done wrong, but simply because she’s married to President Donald J. Trump.
Whether it’s smug Hollywood elites, bitter former allies in fashion, or agenda-driven journalists, Melania has endured relentless attacks from the same crowd that fawns over progressive figures with little substance. Among her most petty critics has been longtime Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour, a gatekeeper of the elitist fashion world who made it her personal mission to blackball America’s most elegant First Lady.
During her husband’s first term in office, Melania never received the traditional Vogue cover and profile routinely granted to First Ladies — even those with far less poise, grace, or global recognition. Michelle Obama got multiple. Jill Biden landed one during her single term. But Melania? Not even once.

View PlansAs The New York Times reported back in 2021, Wintour made her stance perfectly clear:
“Mrs. Trump … was informally barred from the magazine by Ms. Wintour, who, when asked about featuring Mrs. Trump in the magazine, said in 2019, ‘I don’t think it’s a moment not to take a stand.’”
In other words, Wintour didn’t view Vogue as a fashion publication — but as a political weapon.
Now, in 2025, after 37 years at the helm of Vogue, Wintour is stepping down as the editor-in-chief of the American edition. The New York Post reported Thursday that Wintour told staff she is looking for a new “head of editorial content,” marking the end of her direct control over U.S. operations.
But don’t get your hopes up.
Despite the change in title, Wintour isn’t going far. She remains the global chief content officer at Condé Nast and retains her position as Vogue’s global editorial director — which means whoever steps into the editor-in-chief role in America will still report directly to her. Any hope that a fresh voice could bring objectivity or fairness to the magazine’s coverage is likely misplaced.
That means Melania Trump, who by any objective measure epitomizes timeless fashion and First Lady elegance, will likely continue to be ignored by the fashion establishment — all because of politics.
The irony? Melania doesn’t seem to care.
When the New York Times first exposed Wintour’s snub in 2021, a spokesperson for the First Lady made it clear that Melania had no interest in playing the left’s media games.
“To be on the cover of Vogue doesn’t define Mrs. Trump,” the representative said. “She’s been there, done that long before she was First Lady. Her role as First Lady of the United States and all that she does is much more important than some superficial photo shoot and cover.”

While the left continues to play favorites and weaponize once-respected institutions, Melania Trump continues to rise above it all — with class, poise, and resolve.
