Even Democratic Party veterans are sounding the alarm about the political dead weight of the progressive Left. Longtime Democratic strategist James Carville is once again taking a blowtorch to “The Squad” and its loudest socialist allies, warning that the American people simply aren’t buying what radicals like AOC and Bernie Sanders are selling.

In a recent interview with The Daily Beast, Carville said the quiet part out loud: Democrats embracing wokeness are politically doomed.

Carville, a political warhorse who helped guide Bill Clinton to victory in the 1990s, slammed Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) and Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) for their ongoing “Fighting Oligarchy” tour — a roadshow aimed at energizing the party’s far-left base. While the duo is drawing progressive crowds in liberal enclaves, Carville argued it’s doing real damage to the Democratic brand with working-class Americans.

“I’ve got a great idea,” Carville said sarcastically. “Let’s send an 83-year-old and a congresswoman from Queens out in the country.”

“What they don’t do is win elections,” he added bluntly. “They’ve never beaten a Republican!”

Carville noted that Sanders, despite his national profile, has lost two presidential bids, and Ocasio-Cortez only wins in a deep-blue district where Republicans don’t even compete. According to Carville, the Left’s media darling status doesn’t translate to political success.

“Tell me when one body from that wing has ever run against a Republican,” he challenged. “That’s the problem.”

Carville’s comments come after two former Squad members — Reps. Cori Bush and Jamaal Bowman — were booted from Congress in Democratic primaries in 2024, a clear rebuke of their radical anti-police, anti-Israel, and pro-socialist agendas.

Frustrated by the media's obsession with AOC and Bernie, Carville lamented that serious Democrats like Sen. Tammy Baldwin, Rep. Ruben Gallego, Sen. Jackie Rosen, and Rep. Alyssa Slotkin are consistently ignored in favor of bomb-throwers who attract attention but not votes.

“The entire Democratic Party is AOC and Bernie,” he said. “Jackie Rosen doesn’t exist. Tammy Baldwin doesn’t exist… What about AOC? What about it?”

Carville also dismissed concerns over name recognition ahead of the 2028 race, noting it’s far too early to panic — but emphasized that Democrats must ditch the woke theatrics and focus on appealing to ordinary Americans struggling with high interest rates and rising costs.

“There’s one and only one noble purpose in politics,” Carville concluded. “And you know what that is? Winning the election.”
