Team Trump Makes Astonishing Arrest Announcement

Tom Homan, the newly appointed border czar, has issued a stark warning as the Trump administration gears up for large-scale deportation efforts beginning on the president-elect’s first day in office. Homan noted that many undocumented immigrants who have previously avoided detention will likely be caught in the sweeps.
In a phone interview with the Washington Examiner, Homan outlined the administration’s strategy to detain, arrest, and deport potentially hundreds of thousands—if not millions—of undocumented individuals currently residing in the United States.
Homan explained that even those simply living with or connected to individuals with active arrest warrants could face deportation if their only offense is entering the country unlawfully.
“In sanctuary cities, expect a lot of collateral arrests,” Homan stated. “I mean, not priority criminal arrests. We can’t get the bad guy in jail. That means we have to go into the communities and find them, and there may be others. We expect a lot of collateral arrests.”
Under current policies, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) is often unable to transfer detainees from state and local jails to federal custody due to restrictions in certain states, such as California, and in sanctuary cities. These jurisdictions argue it is not their role to enforce federal immigration laws.
As a result, ICE is forced to conduct arrests in residences, workplaces, and other locations. President-elect Trump and Vice President-elect J.D. Vance have pledged to prioritize the arrests of those with criminal records, as well as the approximately 1.4 million individuals who have already been ordered deported by a judge but remain in the country.
“There’s over 700,000 criminal aliens with criminal convictions,” Homan said.
Under the Biden administration, ICE was instructed to focus on apprehending undocumented immigrants convicted of serious crimes. However, Trump’s approach will broaden the scope significantly.
“ICE is going to do what they’re good at,” Homan added.
In a recent interview on NBC’s Meet the Press, Trump reiterated his commitment to deporting all individuals living in the country illegally, stating that “you have no choice,” signaling the potential for mass deportations affecting millions.
During his 2024 campaign, Trump again emphasized immigration and crime as central issues, mirroring his 2016 platform. With Republican control of Congress, he is poised to take more decisive action in his second term. His appointments of Stephen Miller as a senior White House advisor and Homan as border czar further underscore these priorities.
Homan indicated that planning for the operation is already underway and will be in full motion by January 20, 2025, Trump’s inauguration day.
“We’re starting across the country on the same day,” Homan said.
He explained that ICE’s 24 field offices, some covering multiple states, would receive instructions to begin identifying, arresting, and detaining individuals who have been arrested for crimes.
Homan also highlighted the need for additional resources, including military aircraft, to assist in transporting detainees across the country and to their home nations.
“I hope we get to that,” Homan said. “We could use them as a force multiplier.”
Currently, ICE contracts with a private company to operate 13 aircraft for transporting detainees. Homan expressed his intention to request military assistance to expand these capabilities.
“I made it clear that I want their assistance,” he said.
