'This Is Not Going Away': Stephen A. Smith Tells Dems It's Time to Panic Over Obama Russiagate Scandal

Stephen A. Smith is no stranger to controversy. The outspoken sports and culture commentator is best known for his bombastic takes, but on Friday’s “special edition” of The Stephen A. Smith Show podcast, he delivered a warning that should send shivers down the spines of Democratic Party leaders.

Reacting to newly released information from Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard that directly implicates former President Barack Obama in a plot to weaponize federal intelligence agencies against Donald J. Trump during his first term, Smith broke down exactly why Democrats have a serious problem on their hands.

“You know the opposition is always looking to derail an administration,” Smith said. “If you’re a Republican in the White House, Democrats are going to try to derail you. If you’re a liberal in the White House, the conservatives are going to try to derail you.”

That dynamic, Smith noted, has existed since the country’s founding. But what’s different this time, he said, is that the allegations involve a sitting U.S. president using taxpayer-funded intelligence agencies as political weapons.

“But the weaponization of intelligence agencies to pull that off brings on an entirely different problem,” Smith warned.

Conservatives have long suspected that Obama’s fingerprints were all over the infamous “Russia collusion” hoax that consumed much of Trump’s first term. The abuse of government power under Obama — from the IRS targeting conservatives to the DOJ’s political games — is already well-documented.

But Smith suggested that if the broader public comes to realize that this corruption reached the CIA, FBI, and even the Oval Office itself, the left’s carefully crafted narrative about Trump will collapse.

“When you think about how they went after him, and they engaged in lawfare to take him down — the 34 felony counts and convictions and all of this other stuff — [voters] are going to say, ‘See, see? He wasn’t guilty of any of this stuff. They did everything they could to derail him from being the president, because the mission was to keep him from getting back into the White House,’” Smith said.

Smith went further, noting that Democrats’ credibility crisis will only worsen when Americans connect this political weaponization to the suppression of stories like the Hunter Biden laptop scandal.

“They’re going to bring up the Hunter Biden scandal, with the whole laptop controversy,” he added. “And they’re going to say, ‘From 2016, to 2020, to 2024, each and every single time, they were lying.’”

Smith repeatedly cautioned Democrats that the allegations surfacing against Obama and his inner circle are not a passing news cycle.

“This is not going away,” he said bluntly.

The commentator even conceded that he would “always give Obama the benefit of the doubt” — a political reality for any left-leaning media personality — but still acknowledged the devastating implications of Gabbard’s revelations.

Smith also briefly pivoted to the Epstein files, suggesting that the controversy surrounding the deceased sex offender could be President Trump’s “Achilles heel.” But he quickly returned to the bigger issue: the weaponization of U.S. intelligence agencies against a duly elected president.

As Smith concluded, Democrats are facing a narrative that, once fully understood by the American people, could shatter trust in their party for years to come.
