Top Trump Official Assaulted During Live Broadcast by Unhinged Leftist

Ed Martin, a top Trump appointee and acting U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia, was physically assaulted on live television Thursday by a radical leftist woman in what many are calling yet another example of growing intolerance from the far left.

Martin, who had been speaking calmly during a live interview regarding President Donald Trump’s decision to withdraw his nomination for the permanent role, was suddenly ambushed mid-sentence. A clearly unstable woman stormed the set, spewed profanities, and spat on Martin before storming off with her dog.

“We need to get serious about—” Martin began, before turning toward the commotion.

“Who the f*** are you?” the woman screamed, barging into the shot. “You are in my end!” she appeared to yell before spitting directly at him.

Martin instinctively raised his arm to shield himself and remained composed as the woman—who has yet to be identified—stomped away, yelling back, “You are a disgusting man!”

Newsmax anchor Rob Schmitt shared the shocking video on X, writing: “This afternoon acting DC US Atty Ed Martin was spit on by a psychotic lib during our interview. Hope she’s ready for a nice stretch in jail.”

Watch:

The attack comes amid political fallout for Martin, whose nomination was torpedoed earlier this week by Senator Thom Tillis (R-NC), who cited concerns over Martin’s advocacy for January 6 defendants. Despite the setback, President Trump announced Thursday that Martin would take on key leadership roles at the Department of Justice.

“Ed Martin has done an AMAZING job as interim U.S. Attorney, and will be moving to the Department of Justice as the new Director of the Weaponization Working Group, Associate Deputy Attorney General, and Pardon Attorney,” President Trump declared on Truth Social. “In these highly important roles, Ed will make sure we finally investigate the Weaponization of our Government under the Biden Regime, and provide much-needed Justice for its victims. Congratulations Ed!”

Martin’s tenure as acting U.S. Attorney is set to expire May 20. Despite strong performance in office, including a reported 25% drop in crime during his tenure, Martin’s nomination failed to advance in the Senate after Sen. Tillis publicly withdrew his support.

“I met with Mr. Martin. He seems like a good man. Most of my concerns related to January 6th,” Tillis said earlier this week. While acknowledging that Martin raised valid concerns about prosecutorial overreach, Tillis said he could not back someone who, in his view, minimized the events of that day.

Despite the political obstruction, Martin’s next role signals that he remains a trusted figure within the Trump administration, now tasked with taking on the deep state and delivering long-overdue accountability for the weaponization of federal power under the prior regime.

As for the cowardly assault, authorities have yet to confirm whether charges will be filed. But in a nation where the left routinely preaches tolerance while behaving like street thugs, the moment serves as a vivid reminder of just how deranged the opposition has become.
